Hunting a couple weeks ago, crossbow was loaded and sitting on the stand when I begin hearing cracking noises like a tree limb snapping. Few minutes later and the cracking is getting more frequent and louder. Look down and the limb is breaking apart. Remove the bolt out and begin to release the cocking mechanism tension. Didn't discharged, string pretty much ruined.

Haven't shot it more than 50-60 times since new. Decals on the limbs began coming off around 20-30 shots, Ravin sent new limbs claiming decals were put on by a special factory process. Dealer installed the new limbs and string, everything looked good and worked fine then this happens.

Most disappointing thing is the rut is going full blown and no crossbow. I know these things sometimes happen and are not indicative of a substandard product. Just hope they can get it repaired before the rut ends.

I'm I understanding this right; this is the 2nd set of limbs you have needed on a new bow with less than 100 shots on it?

Was it a decal issue with the first set (still not right) and then the 2nd set came apart? Or, did both sets fail? Not good in either case.

Correct, original set of limbs was a decal issue.....thought it odd that the entire limbs needed replaced but that was Ravin's call. Cracking of the replacement limbs is puzzling. Have heard of this happening on a compound bow once.

I would be tempted to go buy another, and go hunting. Then sell one.

Impulse would be to replace the entire unit, but I'm willing to give the manufacturer benefit of the doubt and get it repaired. Too much money to shell out for another one.

That sucks. I have been using a PSE fang for 3 seasons and no issues, but I will get a new string at the end of this season. My serving is looking a little worn.

I'm glad that you didn't get hurt when the limbs failed. I'm sure the company will take care of the bow one way or the other.

Limb problems are common enough to be concerned on many Mission crossbows as well.

Excalibur has had their share in the past but I’m unaware of anything recent.

My Gran-son had a similar problem with his "new" cross bow. Cracking. Can`t remember the name of it though.
Called manufacture. They said, send it back. Maybe a replacement (parts) or new bow.
I have a CenterPoint Sniper 370 cross bow. Had it for a couple of years. So far so good.

Wow...that sucks. Ravin has a 5 year warranty, so you should be good shape to get a new bow, but I'd be a bit leery of going with a similar one. The fact they exchanged limbs for a decal problem hints they may have known of an issue with the limbs and may have contributed the failures to the decals or the process. I'd be interested in what Ravin has to say. At the price of a new R29, I'd be pissed I missed the best part of the season.

That sucks. I saw some compound limbs that did that back when I worked in shops, but while I've heard of crossbow limbs breaking like that, never seen one. It's a credit to Ravin it came undone incrementally, but this confirms mine will be a Center Point when I get one.

Get yourself a cheaper unit and get back out there my friend. When you get your repaired xbow back, then you will have a spare. Or you can give one to a friend or family, or sell it. Don't miss out on rut.
Best wishes for bow season is my only concern.

Armored Farmer is right. Does a friend have a bow you can use? Does the shop that you bought your bow from have a used bow you can use? They have their reputation at stake.
Two options before buying a bow.

Looks like a design flaw to me. You can see the finish on the limb that didn’t break delaminated in the same spot as the limb as the limb that broke. Just like paint cracking on a weld, delamination is a great indicator of over stress.

Sounds like someone is not using the bow press correctly at the dealer. Being that two sets of limbs went bad.
Interesting you'd bring that up, wondered the same thing.

I still have my Matthews so it's not that I can't bow hunt. Got the crossbow because of hand & shoulder injuries. Can still pull a compound back , just harder and more painful.

I understand that. Arthritis in my hands is making life more difficult. I still use my Mathews but it's harder.
