I picked up a 1939 Tula with the scalloped receiver (125 out the door). Anyway, it has markings I have never seen before it's serial number is crossed out and it is replaced with what appears to be 2 Russian letters before a new serial number, any help would be awesome.

That's called a force match. When the guns were refurbished in arsenals in Russia, any parts that had been mixed up with other guns while in service were re-stamped with the serial number of the gun they were found attached to.

Thanks, I was hoping it was a capture. I just realized it is counter-bored also, the worst part of it is that this is my 4th, I just got in a rush...

Counterboring isn't bad, and most of the counterbored rifles shoot as good or better than ones that haven't been counterbored. It should still be a fine shooter.

Counterboring is not as bad as what some purists make it out to be.

Take the rifle to the range and enjoy it. You will likely not be disappointed.

I really like my Finnish M91/30 rifle. One of my favorites.
