I have to go to CT as my wife's family is there. Can I bring my AR or Mini 14 there? Are there magazine restrictions in this state also. Thank you.

What follows is my understanding of CT law, and might not be correct, so you'd be better off calling an attorney, or researching this further:

CT has an assault weapons ban, so unless your AR isn't made by Colt, isn't a Bushmaster AR (XM-15 is probably ok) has no bayonet lug, and no flashhider (or threading that could allow one to be installed) I believe it would be illegal to possess in the state. If it has a permanently pinned muzzle break, it should be ok.

Mini 14, as long as it isn't a folder, should be ok.

    No mag restrictions.

What August said, and here is the law (bearing in mind IANAL, I would think the AR would be a no and the Ruger would be a yes depending on the set up):

I'll be in CT as well, next year. Moving out of MA, so no big difference other than I'll actually be able to get a CCW. After that, Texas, maybe Montana. Let freedom ring.
