I mailed my application on 4-3-06, the BATF signed the return receipt card on 4-17-06 and I received my license back today 4-27-06.

BTW, the license does come in a blue envelope that does look like junk mail. My big packet of forms and regs was also in today's mail.

You poor, poor man. At least, you will be soon.

I wonder if this will be the new normal for turn-around. I wonder, are they done and all settled in from their recent move?

Alas, no for two reasons:

First, I live in the People's Demoncracy (system of rule by progressive demons) of Massachusetts and I can't use a C&R license to purchase handguns since C&R qualified handguns are not on the Attorney General's "approved" list.

Second, I'm left handed and thus don't have too much interest in purchasing bolt action military rifles. Though I suspect I'll end up with a few simply because I like them.

Hmm...why did I get a C&R license?

There are military semi-autos also, or is that a problem in Mass?

My wife fires my Garand and SKS lefty and does OK.

You can go broke saving money at Midway/Brownells too. Not just buying guns.

ravencon, allow me to bear you good news.

You CAN buy non MA compliant handguns and bring them into MA.

You can also buy C&R semi-autos like M1 Garand, M1 Carbine, SKS, etc.

It took me 6 weeks from when I sent it off to when I received it...Ironically enough, I filled out my state tax id number application (going to sell some accessories online) on the same day and I received both items in the mail on the same day.

Oooh, weird;)

Im 16 days into my week(including weekends) but Im not gonna be fazed by a long wait becuase I waited 80+ days for my Florida CCW! Also what exactly do you get discounts on at Midway,Brownelss.etc..?

Everything. You get dealer pricing on everything they sell everyday. Once in a while, their sales price goes below dealer price, but you still get to buy at the lesser of the two anyway.

Having said so, I've found out that these discounts don't really help me save at all. I just end up with more toys and supplies for the same money. :banghead:

I sent for my C & R on 25 Jan 06. Got it 24 Apr 06. Sounds like the person doing Indiana is just slow or overworked. Took a lot longer than I expected but at least I got it. Midwayusa, Brownells, SOG, and AIM, what kind of discounts do they give on ammo & non C&R stuff?

WHEW!!! Chipperman, thanks for the update. I just ordered my C&R package yesterday from the ATF website and was looking to get both handguns and long guns.

Dealer applies to everything except new guns/receivers. Graf's, J&G Sales and E-gunparts (Numerich Gun Parts Corp.) also gives dealer along with several others that I'm forgetting right now. I emailed TAPCO last week and was told that they do to. Sent a signed copy to them Tuesday but haven't heard back from them as of today.
