Whats everyones thoughts on the C&R market?

The c&r market has seemed to dry up, mosins are even hard to find, k31s are gone, 98ks are hit or miss without any large supplys imported lately. Are the days of sweet deals gone?

I would hazard a guess, yes. Anything newer is select fire, and a no-no. Maybe another pile of SKSs might be found somewhere, or another stash of Mosins, but I think the C&R import wave is dying off.

Mosins do indeed appear to be a bit harder, I've still seen a lot of websites listing K-31s, but at the $300+ price range

They're not as cheap as they used to be, but they are out there. Some suppliers still have 24/47's, SKS's, Swede's, and Mosin's. The latest batch seems to be VZ-24's in 8mm and 7mm. Turks can still be had at under 100 if you keep your eyes peeled.

The dirt cheap arsenal releases are dwindling, however the trading of old rifles and handguns will continue, and they will become more valuable with time and as such will always represent a good investment, as will anything where supply is fixed and there is demand. Encourage all your friends to get a C & R. It increases demand and makes the stuff in MY safe increase in value. Excuse me, just being self-serving.

classicarms.us use to be the mosin nagant mecca but they don't have any at all now. I bought a 91/30 for 120 at a gunshow and to me it looks just like it went from the factory to the cosmoline vat and the storage rack. Maybe it was rearsenaled but if so there isn't a ding on it and the bluing is really good. I haven't fired it and debating if I will. Just hang on to it for trade.

i see nice rifles on the web, but not as often. they are a little more expensive than a year ago (i keep the old SGN and compare) but they are out there. some sellers are charging a lot more, however. i saw this with swiss k-31s at one web site. but interesting things still pop up. mosin 91-59s and 38s recently, but not in quantity. but the m 38s were $50 more than a year ago. ah well. still m 39s around. many enfields. turkish mausers entering the mkt, and still many russian capture k98s (there were millions of these and mosins).

This topic comes up from time to time. I suppose one day the C&R market ("new" imports, not buying/selling guns already in private hands) will dry up. However, the death knell has been sounded before--and then something else pops up for us to buy. If there's more stuff out there, the importers will be trying to get at it so they can lighten our wallets. Be sure of that at least.

And next week some importer will dig up a warehouse full of... something. Just wait and see.

If you want guns coming in we could normalize trade relations with Vietnam. Several friends who were there report multiple warehouses stacked with Mausers, SKSs, and many other military arms vintage 1945-1960. I'm sure the Commie bastards would love to turn them into quick cash.

+1.

Why are you guys worrying about surplus? don't you all already have them like me  lol

I'm sure we have nothing to worry about. I think the post-election gun rush ate up a lot of inventory. Give it another 6 months.
