S&W's dedicated .22lR AR.

Some are advertised with "threaded barrel".
Don't they ALL have threaded barrels? All someone really needs to do is unscrew the muzzle brake and thread on a suppressor to any model of this rifle, right?

Things may have changed, but when I bought mine several years ago they offered 2 versions. My memory could be off a bit but the threaded barrel was a slightly lighter barrel while the non-threaded was meant as a medium weight barrel for better accuracy. It also made it legal to sell in some states with restrictions on Assault Rifles. I have seen both types. Mine is threaded with a flash hider.

Great gun, I recently saw a non-threaded one for sale, I wish .22 LR was easier to source and I could use mine more often :fire:

it's not exactly expensive or rare, even with the scarcity/price hikes, it can still be had for ~11 cents/round with shipping online.

The 15-22 is the best firearm to come off the line in many a year! There i may have made the statement just a bit strong however i just love my two 15-22's as they are such fun shooting platforms. The rifles have the feel and ergonomics of the real thing (AR 15). I have many thousands of rounds through mine with only a few ammo related miss fires, it is not a target rifle but is quite capable of holding it's own when plinking or small game. I prefer the ten round mags for their convenience when shooting from a bench or congested places.

Considering 15 yrs ago, I could fee my SKS all the ammo it wanted for .10 cents a round, paying .11 for .22lr still seems like a bit much to some of us.

I've got one, with the "evil" threaded barrel. Seriously great little rifle, very reliable, accurate enough for what it is intended for. I set mine up like my LE6920 and do drills with it because it's easier on my steel targets and backstop.

It makes a great AR15 trainer, the collapsible stock adjusts for different shooters and is a constant hit when kids (and adults) come out to shoot. beware, you will go through bunches and bunches of the .11 cents around ammo. When I add the 3X magnifier to the Vortex dot sight, its OK for squirrels.

Here's a picture of my boy shooting it:

As an aside, I just managed to pick up another 1400 rds of .22LR at about .11. Can load 9mm for a little more, but "it is, what it is".

Coming back to the present, know that that same ammo is now more than twice that price and 7.62x39mm ammo comparable in quality to CCI MiniMags are easily 5-7 times that price

Gosh, it seems that some of y'all are getting screwed on .22LR prices still..

Around these parts, it's about 6.2¢ a round. They raised it to 7.6¢ for a bit, but the last time I saw it- it was back at 6.2¢...

Since we digressed to ammo and it's cost, i am shooting .22 ammo with $1.25 per 100 CCI that i purchased years ago. I always had 30,000 plus rounds of .22 in cans because i and my family shot so much, girls now gone their way but the stash is still greater than i wii shoot in my lifetime ( unless the grand kids visit with their .22's that i gave them).
Consequently i have not paid $50 a brick for meodocre grade ammo that others are standing in line for. Not bragging just the way my stockpiling of various items like ammo of all calibers for weapons own, has worked to my advantage.
