Looking at buying a custom 1911 .45. Got it narrowed down to either a Wilson CQB, Ed Brown Kobra, or a Yost-Bonitz custom. All cost around the same ($2000). What are your opinions, expereinces, and thoughts??? Which one has the best combination of combat reliability and accuracy?

(please no suggestions for other 1911 makers, just between the above listed 3 makers)

Thanks.

It would be a serious toss up between the Ed Brown and the Yost. Brown puts out the best factory semi-custom. Yost is an outstanding custom shop.

I have made my decision for my next 1911.

Ed Brown.

I don't yet own any from the makers you mentioned but, after some research and Q&A, I am going with the Brown for my next purchase.

Sorry, probably not much help, just my $.02.

I can only comment on my experience with Yost Bonitz. I'd go with them again. All my questions, concerns, etc. were quickly handled.

The results were fantastic.

I have heard very nice things about the Brown shop too and the Kobra Carry I handled at a gun store recently was very nice, but I have only bought their parts.

If I had to pick between the Brown and the Yost 1* Elite both being in the same $2k range, I would get the Yost.

All three are nice guns and have a following..

Technically the Wilson and the Ed Brown are semi-custom guns..you order one for the maker and it comes a certain way with their parts, etc.

Yost is the only true custom of the three you mentioned..made with the parts ( within reason ) and the tweaks you want.

I would vote for a YOST gun...of those three....

I have a Wilson CQB I love the gun. Its very accurate and reliable. One of my friends has a Baer TRS and its also a nice pistol. The Baer was so tight when he got it it was very difficult to rack the slide. And press checking was impossible. But 500 rounds later it was fine.
