Well I did it. I found a source for Kydex, and I made two holsters: one last night and one today. Both holsters are for my own SW40VE
The one I made last night is an inside the waistband holster. It is a bit large and uncomfortable, but there's only so much you can do with a gun that big. I'll have to try this trick with my wife's Bersa. I'm sure the smaller pistol will be much more comfortable.
The second holster rides a little higher and hangs on the belt outside the pants. It's harder to conceal in light summer clothes, but much more comfortable. The holster alone doesn't print, but, again, that big pistol is just a beast to conceal. I'll be glad when cooler weather comes on this fall.
Neither holster took more than an hour to make, but both are professional quality. I have seen injection molded Kydex that is selling for $30 to $50 that is no better than what I can make at home. I'd post pictures but I bought my pistol instead of a new digital camera. I'll try and get a picture with my phone, but I'm not expecting great quality with that.
