Here is a custom kubaton I just finished for an individual. It was my first foray into knurling and I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. It is hardened aluminum, 8" long, with a 'castle' shape on the square end. I then bead blasted the knurling and buffed the ends. What do you think?

Dammed sharp , stylish too . The only thing i would have done is to cut the groves ( not the knurling ) a bit deeper but i am sure you have reasons not to given your client .

    Just two minutes from sanity.
How much to make me one about 5.5 inches long out of brass?

Jeff makes some very cool items and all are of the best quality.I have few of his items in my collection and edc rotation.

    Here is some info.....

The alpha is a dog leash holder with a few uses.;)

    More info to come...

Here are some pics of the item.

While I liked the alpha holder...I wanted a more "covert "design so I chopped it.

IMO...works better for a leash holder and also still works great as per my tests for a impact device.

    SORRY JEFF..for the butcher job.

In fact check out alpha it has lots of cool custom made items.

Reminds me of my Rick Hinderer kubaton/pen.

There certainly is a market for this. You may want to drill a lanyard hole or even 2 for retention/koppo stick applications.

I'd love to try some out of brass. Send me a PM and we'll work out a design. I've actually thought of trying them in brass for a while now.

As far as putting holes in it to make it into a koppo I've beaten you to the punch ;). I have been making them out of reinforced polymer ( koppos and kubatons ) for about 6 months now but the pictures are my first foray into aluminum koppos. Lathe work is one of those things that takes me away to another place.

Putting me on the spot, are ya? ;) I charged him $75 for it but it took a bit longer than I thought it would. If I did another one I'd want to add a little to it. Knurling is a tedious process and the 'castle' shape on the end was hard to get radiused and polished.

I'd really love a good strong PEN (poly?) that I could write with. Probably going to be in daily academic circles for a few years, and out of the country some of that time.

pens are really excellent "covert" weapons.

Try looking at some of the drug company giveaway pens...they can be wicked in design and a lot are brass or stainless.

That said...hey Jeff how about a pen out of your killer polymer...It cound use a standard common bic insert for the refill and but have a fatter body than a bic and some kind of cool cap...I would buy one !

Hmmm:scrutiny:...if I drill out a alpha poly kubaton, mill this and mod that...sorry Jeff I know ya hate it when I cut your designs up....:D

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. Could have metal and poly versions, but you wouldn't have to pull the poly versions out for most metal detectors. (If they have them turned up to the level that would detect pen springs, they'll alert on zippers and such.)

Haven't you done enough damage with the tactical dog leash? :fire: I began to have serious doubts about you when you said you wanted to figure out a way to add lights to it. :scrutiny: If you started modding my kubaton I might be forced to put you on the 'Do not respond to' list.

I have thought about a pen for quite some time but I just can't seem to get around to it. I am coming out with a stylus sized polymer kubaton in the near future. We are in the process of tooling it right now. It will be 6" long x 3/8" dia. and have a pen clip attached. Here is the sketch of it.

Looks good. If you ever make that pen for a reasonable price, I think it'll fly. Hell, I'll buy a stack, and put a link to your pages for them in my sigs.

Hm...and maybe write up an review in a magazine about it. Email me if you ever
    decide to do it.

The next time I send you anything it will already be rigged to explode pink permanant ink all over your face the second a saw blade or drill bit touches it  Think about that the next time you tamper with perfection.

Unless, of course, you are willing to send me one of the mods. In that case, please disregard the above statement. :D

Well, the pens might come quicker than I thought. My brother-in-law showed up at Christmas with some custom pens he made for us. It turns out he's been doing these for a number of months and they are really cool. I am amazed at the craftsmanship of them. He has a supplier that feeds him some pretty exotic woods from North & South America. The top one is made out of a wood I've never heard of, Peduk ( if that's the correct spelling ). The bottom pen is made out of whitetail deer antler. He also had some made from Elk antler and mule deer antler. He even had one that was made from a polished .30-06 shell casing on the bottom and whitetail antler on top. It was about the coolest looking pen I've seen. He is going to be sending me handful of these to start selling on my website. I'll post more pics after I've recieved them.

We are even working on modifying our polymer kubaton to make a pen out of it. I'll post pics of those as well once we've completed the prototypes.

I would be very interested in a polymer kubaton/pen.
