So I saw a CVA double barrel side by side 12 gauge BP muzzleloader for sale. Doesn't have a name just says 12 gauge shotgun on it. I never knew CVA made anything like this. Has big nipples like it uses musket caps. How much are these worth?

SxS muzzleloading shotguns don't show up on the used market anywhere near as often as rifles and they usually sell pretty quick.
What's it worth? at least a few hundred bucks if it's in decent shape.
Expect it to sell for more than a similar quality rifle, and not just because it has 2 barrels.
These days it could be "worth" a lot more than it used to be.

I've seen them on GB several times, average price around 400.00. They don't stay there long. For the most part they are good solid shotguns.

CVA never made anything. They were an importer. They were made in Spain.

About 8-10 years back I saw a CVA over under in .50 cal at a LGS. A little rough. $360. Not a shotgun but a price point.

I’ve never seen a CVA side by side for sale and I’m pretty active on a couple of for sale internet sites for last 10+ Years.

Well I don't think it's considered a howda cause it's got 28 inch barrels and a full stock but it definitely looks pretty cool to me. Got brown barrels can't tell if its patina or brown finish

    Brown Finish ! lol! rust?

I would buy it if I had the money. But you can literally talk me into buying a brick wall.

They're both a form of controlled oxidization. Im pretty sure browning came before blueing sometime in the 18th century. Not sure when manganese oxidization AKA parkerizing came about

I have a CVA SxS 12 gauge I built from a kit. Nice gun. Shoots well. I added a butt plate, entry thimble and some checkering. Browned the hardware except locks which are polished inside and out. No idea what it's worth.

You comfortable sharing what the kit cost and when you got it? Interesting this one was perhaps built from a kit by some guy with similar taste. It has a padded butt plate and checkering. Does yours use No.11 or musket caps?

I have been looking at some 10 gauge double kits but at almost $1200 it's to much.

You can get shootable originals for a lot less.

This is an auction online and right now the same guy kept outbidding me after I become the winner. He already drove us up over $400. we got over a week left I figured I'd stop fighting this guy till the end so he ain't got time to drive it too much higher.

I got the kit in a trade from a guy who bit off more than he could chew about 35 years ago. I use a period correct metal butt plate. Just uses the regular size nipples for #11 caps.

I'd bid on this Pederoli before bidding on a kit.
