What are the pros-and-cons and basic differences between the CZ 452 Ultra Lux and the 455 Lux?
I know the 452 has a 46" overall length and 10-rnd mag vs the 455's 38" length and 5-rnd mag. Other than those 'basics' how do they differ... and any performance/accuracy/shooting differences?
Thanks

Pretty sure the 452 has a 26" barrel and the 455 sports a 20"...

I'm not sure I have ever seen a rifle with a 46" barrel!

Sorry... Meant to read OVERALL LENGTH!... Will edit.
Thanks Swami!

GZOH, your barrels up there must be on steroids.....

UL has a 28" barrel and the 455 has a 20" barrel. The main difference I would look at is the factory sights. To me, the 452 sights are superior to the 455's.

If you want the barrel swap option and a shorter barrel with sights, go with the 455. Otherwise get a UL or a 24" trainer Or lux model.

Lots of positive comments out there about the UL's. And add a set of BRNO sights and they say the love affair increases.

What are you going to use it for?

From what I've read most reviewers feel the 455 is a cheapened version of the 452 and changes were made for cost savings. If you have the money and can find one the 452 Varmint with the Laminate Thumbhole stock is SWEET. Buds Guns.com had them for around $400 shipping included. Wifey bought me one for Christmas for my silhouette league this summer. See 50yd test target below - 5 shot and 10 shot groups off bags using a Tasco 6x24 target scope.

I bought one quick when I found out the 452's were being discontinued.;)

Unlike CZ's CF models, CZ's riflires have azzbackwards safeties! That's their biggest drawback and why i don't own one.

There are plenty of other 22's that have everything "right" so there's no need to buy a rifle with an odd ball safety...

Not many .22 rifles under $1000 will shoot with a cz, that being said I like the 452 for the solid barrel lock up. The 455 will probably prove to be great rifles but for now I will take a threaded barrel to receiver over a set screw set up similar to a 10/22.

I have a 455 and a 452. I don't find one to be superior to the other as far as workmanship, materials, or accuracy goes....I would just buy the one that suits your tastes the most.

I'm presupposing you want a rifle with irons. You may want to handle an UltraLux prior to buying as it has a looong barrel. The 452 has a somewhat better rear sight, but the 455 Lux has the new interchangeable barrels so one rifle can shoot different calibers.

I do know that the 452 Lux/Trainer had one action screw and one "barrel lug screw", but both are excellent shooters. The 455 Lux now has 2 action screws and the barrel is fully free floated as I appreciate it. I'm not sure about the action screw set up on the 452 Ultra Lux, however, but it may mirror the 452 Lux/Trainer set up.

One advantage of the Ultra Lux is that it is quite. I have heard some compare the noise level with subsonic ammo to a suppressed rifle.

I own 2 452s, and they are proven performers. The jury is still out somewhat on the 455. I hear the ones that have accuracy problems do well with bedding and headspace adjustments. Dan Lilja just completed a first run of drop in barrels, but I am unsure whether those "drop-in" to the 455 Lux. I've only seen one so far, on a 455 American.
