I've been looking to acquire a CZ 527 for quite some time. Not just any 527, but one that's chambered for the elusive 22 Hornet. I haven't seen any on the market for a while now. I understand that CZ is probably trying to keep up with the current demand for the new and popular 17 hornet, and isn't too terribly interested with importing rifles chambered for this aging cartridge. I understand it isn't the fastest or the most powerful, but as a up and coming hand loader, I'd love to play around with this particular cartridge. I dunno why, but I've always been attracted to these dated, rimmed cartridges. Anyhow I'd love to buy one, but can't find one to save my life. I hope they haven't given up on it, in favor of the newer and lustier 17 hornet, which I've got no quarrels with.

Buds Gun Shop had some listed, right now shows as "out of stock" I have dealt with Buds for years and I can tell you that if you deal with them, whenever that rifle comes back in stock, you will get one. price was last $638, you might drop them an email, call or place an order and get put on the list for the next one. I have done this before on a couple hard to find firearms.

do a search for russian made ones too, Zastava formerly yugoslavia now serbia makes a nice mannlicher-steyr style stock! usually for less cost than the cz and available. having said that i have a cz hornet american model. pretty good shooter, but those mannlichers look slick, a double set trigger would even be nicer.

Sort of a thread veer... but I have a mid 60's Mannlicher Schoenaur with the double set triggers, and I much prefer the CZ single set trigger. The "non set" trigger on the CZ is far superior, and the position of the trigger shoe is better than on the DST. FWIW. I would get the CZ.

I don't know about those other offerings like Zastava etc.

    Here's one: at gunbroker

Be advised that the Hornet cases are really thin, and easily crumpled when seating bullets. I agree that they are neat little cartridges though, and understand why you would like them.

I actually looked into purchasing a Zastava M85, and while a fine rifle by all means it isn't a true "Mini Mauser", seeing as it doesn't have CRF, even at that I've seriously contemplated purchasing one. They look more than serviceable, but rough around around the edges.
