CZ 550 Varmint Kevlar VS Rem 700 VSF

Well, the 550 will have an excellent, adjustable out of the box trigger. It looks like they both come with an HS precision stock. I'm betting that the CZ will be more accurate out of the box, but the Remington has more options for future upgrades. Although lately it seems that the CZ's are popular enough that customization options are better than they used to be. Just guessing, but the CZ will probably be cheaper.

does the CZ have a large extractor like a Win model 70? also is the safety 3 position? Thouse are 2 things i dont like about rem 700

The CZ has a large controlled round feed extractor like the model 70, but a normal 2 position safety. I loved my CZ 550 VL I had in .308 but sold it because I got a great A-Bolt Eclipse on a trade that would barely out-shoot it. Didn't need 2 heavy 308 bolt rifles so sold the CZ. I'd buy one again in a heartbeat.

The large claw extractor is nice if you get a sticky case or a weak rim. Much more likely to extract than the dinky little thing on the 700. It scares me :uhoh: :D

can any one report on the CZ set trigger? As in when you push the trigger forward and it turns into an ounces instead of pound trigger to break.???

The CZ set trigger is awsome. I have a 550 in 6.5x55mm. You push the trigger forward until it clicks to activate the set trigger. This sets it right on the sear. Just brush the trigger and it'll break. I let a guy shoot it at a recent THR group shoot, and although I'd warned him and he was used to very light triggers but he still managed to fire it before he was really ready (he was on target, followed all safety rules, just didn't hit where he wanted). And that was at the factory setting. It could be adjusted lighter if I wanted. I rather doubt I'll go out of my way to buy any other hunting rifle than CZ's.
