OK, I already bought it so I'm just checking to see if I did a respectable deal on it. Google turns up a fairly broad range of prices. I found a previously owned one of these handguns. It looks to me like it is almost new in the box. No evidence of having been shot much at all. It came with factory case/box, all documents and two magazines. I paid $520 for it out the door with tax, tags and license. Is that about right...too much...too little?

The trigger might get a little work but I will wait until I have shot it awhile and see if it smooths out. The SA trigger pull is great. The DA is a little heavy if the hammer is all the way down. But from their safety cock notch it is pretty good. I haven't shot it yet, just a bunch of dry fire. One nice thing is it fits well in the same Galco Avenger holster that I use for my Sig P6.

I'd say that's a great price on s fine pistol.

I don't see any for sale locally so any research on a price would likely just turn up what you already know.

New, however, are high $600's to low $700's locally.

Any pics?

I bought my 75D Compact back during the Obammy admin when folks were buying up everything and anything.

It was imported as a stop gap against shortages of the US market designation P-01 pistol with its European designation 75D Compact.

I have the 75 Compact as well. I prefer it over the P01 (I own that too). I'd say you got a great deal especially if the gun looks to be in mint condition and $520 was the out the door price.

That's the PCR model.
Yup, that's the CZ PCR which has an aluminum and not the steel frame. It confuses people because for whatever reason, CZ engraves "CZ 75 Compact" on the slide of the 75 Compact, P01, and the PCR.

OK. I am not knowledgeable of all the, various CZ 75 designations. As I understand it the PCR has an alloy frame as the main difference and this is also without a rail, which I am fine with. Is the PCR version worth more, less or the same?

To disassembly the pistol, unload it, decock it so the hammer is in the half cock position. Then hold the pistol with your left hand with the thumb under the beaver tail and the others four fingers up on the slide , with the index finger in front of the rear sight and in contact with it. So you can retract the slide and hold it in contact with the hammer or even a air more back to have the two signs on the slide and on the frame aligned. Holding the slide in that position, take a piece of wood or hard plastic with your right hand and push the slide stop pin to the left. I usually use the handle of a big screwdriver.
Once the slide stop pin moved its way on the left, change the pistol on the right hand and do the same thing you were doing with the left hand, holding the slide back and now with your left hand you can pull the slide stop out.

They all have similar MSRPs. Both the 75 Compact and PCR don't have rails, but if memory serves me correctly, CZ did a limited run of the steel frame 75 Compacts that had a rail.

The PCR, a criminally underrated pistol. I've got two.
CZ uses different names and roll marks on the slide for US and European markets.

The CZ 75 D compact started life as a steel framed pistol.

If you want a lower DA pull, I suggest you head over to Cajun Gun Works. They have everything from mild to wild.
I would start with the gold or 15lb main spring, a cgw TRS or trigger return spring and a floating trigger pin.

Word of caution, the firing pin block roll pin is the weak link of the CZ. You dry it YOU WILL DAMAGE the roll pin and lock the pistol up.
When dry firing I place a foam ear plug over the firing pin at the rear of slide.

That’s the going rate on the CZ 75 Compact PCR models. I say you got a good deal because I paid $500 about 7 years ago for my PCR and we all know what $500 2017 money is in todays money.

I am perfectly happy with the factory grips but may change them for cosmetic reasons.

The one real negative I have found so far is that taking it apart for cleaning is a real pain.
Beautiful gun! You won't care what you paid for it once you shoot it. It's a phenomenal gun, IMO. I personally like the factory rubber grips.

Cleaning it is not hard once you do it a few times. You slide the slide back to line up the notch on the slide (just behind the cocking serrations in your photo) with the notch at the rear left side of the frame that's hidden by the decocker. Then push out the slide stop. Then the slide assembly comes off. From there, it's about like any other Browning locked breech action semi-auto pistol to clean.

Use your left hand to grip the frame and slide and move the slide back slightly and your right hand to partially depress the decocker so you can see the notch and then to push out the slide stop. If yours is snug, it gets easier over time.

What gives me a problem is that it seems no matter how I hold it with my left hand my fingers on the slide are in the way of pushing/hitting the slide stop pin. Maybe it is because my old fingers aren't strong enough without a good grip on the slide. I will continue to work on doing the disassembly. If that is the only problem I have then I will be a happy camper. I will work on the technique until I find what works for me. I want to be able to disassemble without having to go to my workbench. It seems that the price I paid was a decent deal.

As already said, don't dry fire it without the trick suggested and don't slam the slide home on an empty chamber.

Use your left thumb like a hook. You don't need to make contact on the side of the pistol with your left palm. On the right side the fingers are out of the pin sight.
Maybe on the PCR is difficult because of the ramped rear sight that doesn't easily allow the index finger to push the slide to the rear.

OK. I am not knowledgeable of all the, various CZ 75 designations.
CZ has only sold 3 compact sized pistols in the US, 4 if you count the oddball Rami, and 5 if you count the new since 2023 Shadow 2 compact.

Those models are the compact, pcr and p01. It doesn't matter one bit what is stamped on the slide.

The compact has a steel frame with safety. The front of the slide has a hi power style cut and only rear serrations that are slanted forward. The front and rear grip straps are smooth, no serrations or checkering.

The PCR has an alloy frame with no rail and decocker. The slide is full length, has forward and rear serrations that both slant forward. The slide is the only compact model that has a LCI. Despite what the internet says, it shares the same rear dovetail as all other CZ 75 models, just the rib is milled away. Front of frame is also milled differently at an angle vs the ball cut of the compact.
Also the front and rear grip straps have vertical serrations.

The P01 has an alloy frame with rail and decocker. The slide is full length and has front and rear serrations but rear serrations are vertical.

The Shadow 2 compact has an alloy frame with safety. The S2 is a different animal than the other 3 models. The slide is smaller so it weighs less, has a bigger diameter barrel and the weight removed from the slide went to the frame. The frame is undercut at the trigger guard and beavertail. Also has front and rear checkering on the grip straps. It also has no firing pin block and a better trigger.

No they don't. Only the compact is stamped CZ 75 compact. The PCRs are stamped CZ 75 D compact. The D is for decocker. The P01 have had both CZ 75 P01 and CZ 75 D compact.
CZ did a limited run of the steel frame 75 Compacts that had a rail.
Those steel framed safety model P01 were built for an European contract, once filled the over runs were dumped on the US market. Depending upon the source, 500 to 1500 guns were brought over. They are somewhat rare and command a premium. I just watched one on gunbroker last night, it brought almost 1400 bucks.

I have a steel framed safety P01 and even the more rarer version in 40.

CZ has made quite a few different variations of compact sized pistols, I own pretty much all of them, but they were never built and sold for the US market.

I'm not a CZ fan, but if I had to be, the 75D is a very nice pistol. A client has one that he purchased through CZ Custom and the trigger is great and the pistol is quite accurate. He also put more visible sights on it. It really has a lot going for it. Best of luck with it!

I like to use an Azoom snap cap in the chamber for dry fire. They stay in place shot after shot.

Around my neck of the world, that's a great price for a new* CZ75D PCR.

My PCR set me back $550 years ago, and they sell for $695 here now.

Congrats on your new PCR, @Bill_in_TR .

*Ooops. I misunderstood that the gun was pre-owned. It does look like it has low miles, though!!!

True. I have a set of XS sights on my PCR. This sight set on mine is for all compact sized CZ75s.
