CZ 75 D Compact

All you have to do is keep the slide pulled back to the half cock position and the slide stop will pop out.
That sounds about right. My slide stop pin really resists coming out, and a rap with a brass drift is required. Which calls for one more hand than I have.
The system on a Browning HiPower has a lot to recommend it, with the safety locking the slide in the right spot.

I have the same headache. After I do push it in from the right it is difficult to pull it out from the left. It is a really tight fit. Hopefully it will loosen up a little over time.

I had two CZs: a P01 (A.K.A. CZ75 D Compact), which I sold a couple of years ago, and a P07. I sold the P01 due to nerve and muscular damage in both my hands prevented me from being able to rack the slide properly. What I liked about the P01 was how nicely it fit my hand, sort of reminding me of a smaller Browning Hi-Power in it's shape and design.

No problem with the slide on the P07 and I really liked that I could switch from having it as a decocker or change it to a frame mounted thumb safety. Still have the .22 Kadet conversion kits for both guns.

I'm not seeing the roll pin through the slide on my Shadow Compact; is that the pin you're talking about? Or am I misunderstanding? (OH, wait, you mean a roll pin that keeps the firing pin plunger safety in place, which my Compact doesn't have?)
CZ shadows regardless if it's a SP01 shadow, an ultra rare Shadow Line, Shadow 2, S2 compact or even the Tactical sport guns they don't have a firing pin block. Since they have no fpb, the firing pin itself is retained differently. They are retained much like a 1911.
Now pistols like CZ 75b, pcr, p01, sp01, p07 and p09, CZ 97 they have a firing pin block and the firing pin is retained with a roll pin.

The roll pin doesn't retain the block it retains the firing pin. This is why dry firing a CZ with a fpb can damage and lock up the pistol. Without a round in the chamber, the firing pin hits the roll pin.

Below is two CZ pistols, the top is a very rare steel framed P01 with safety in 40 S&W. The bottom is a Shadow 2 Compact. The top pistol has a firing pin block so it has a roll pin in the slide. The S2C has no firing pin block and has no roll pin in the slide.

To my knowledge, CZ has only built 2 compact pistols without the fpb. The super rare Shadow Line compact and now the S2 compact. All other compact sized CZ guns have a fpb and WILL have a roll pin in the slide

I just held the gun in my non-dominant hand, with the slide pulled back to the witness marks, or half cock position. Can use a corner of the plastic base plate of a mag and push the pin out with that.

Tried that just now, as that is the preferred method, but the slide stop in mine requires a real bump to move. BTW, taking the slide to the halfcock doesn't take it to the right spot for alignment. Actually, a P210 presents the same problem.

Okay, mine falls into the S2 compact category, so no roll pin. Thank you for the very comprehensive explanation. 👍

The PCR, a criminally underrated pistol. I've got two.
CZ uses different names and roll marks on the slide for US and European markets.

The CZ 75 D compact started life as a steel framed pistol.

If you want a lower DA pull, I suggest you head over to Cajun Gun Works. They have everything from mild to wild.
I would start with the gold or 15lb main spring, a cgw TRS or trigger return spring and a floating trigger pin.

Word of caution, the firing pin block roll pin is the weak link of the CZ. You dry it YOU WILL DAMAGE the roll pin and lock the pistol up.
When dry firing I place a foam ear plug over the firing pin at the rear of slide.
Best pistol I own. Fits my hand like a glove shoots accurately. Thinking about sending it to Cajun gun works for some trigger work.
