CZ field Strip/Takedown

Never owned a CZ or even shot one but becoming very interested in them, how hard is takedown?

Special tools or any tools needed?

Easy peasy. Just line up the slide and pop out the slide stop.

I would add that with the 97B you will have a bushing to deal with and with the CZ82/83 you pull down the front of the trigger guard as with a PPK.

Assuming you are talking of the most popular model the CZ-75 and variants (85/RAMI/P-01/SP-01)

Make the weapon safe, eject mag, rack slide, visual and or manual inspection of chamber, point pistol in safe direction, squeeze trigger.

Manually click hammer to the half cock position with thumb or forefinger and thumb (Optional but makes the next step easier)

Ease the slide back until it just stops (2 small lines on the rear of the slide and bottom receiver/pistol grip now line up) approx 1/4".

Use the edge/corner of the magazine to press the small nubbin side of the slide release through the slide (right hand side of the pistol if looking down from the top).

Remove slide release

Push slide of the pistol forward, off the pistol grip

Turn the slide upside down and ease the recoil spring and rod off the barrel.

Barrel will now be able to be retracted and drop free

Done

To re-assemble do the reverse.

REMEMBER not to push the slide past the two lined up notches when disassembling or you can't remove the slide release.

True enough. Using the blunt end of a ballpoint pen or a dowel rod can assist in pushing out the slide stop. On mags with plastic floorplates in a pinch some use the floor plate edge to push it out. Don't use anything to pound on it or you will end up with what you see below on this 5906, done by a previous owner, and now with my smith being refinished.

I use the back side of a nylon cleaning brush and a clening rag as a barrier. Works pretty slick and its all there in my cleaning bag

It does come with a tool for take down.It looks like an allen wrench.One end is a phillips head for the grips.The other end looks like an ice pick,take it and put it in the dimple on the slide lock,and push it out.Better than knocking it out.

Mine neither. I usually tap the slide stop out, using a the handle of a screwdriver.
