I went to the range this morning with the plan of shooting the kadet kit and then switching over to the 9mm. While firing the kadet, the firing pin would go past the retainer and rotate taking the flat part of the pin out of registry with the retainer. This happened a couple of times in 100 rounds which forced me to disassemble the gun, reregister the pin, put the retainer back in place and reassmble the gun. Not hard to do but disruptive and a pain in the neck. At one point, the retainer dropped out of the slide and the firing pin hit me in the forehead. So there I am, crawling around on the floor looking for the retainer and firing pin like I had lost a contact lens. My gut tells me the offender is the firing pin spring but the kit is relatively new and the spring should have plenty of life still left in it. Any suggestions from you fellow CZ owners?

It might be a bad spring, but I would give the firing pin channel a thorough cleaning and inspect it to see if anything (debris, burrs, etc.) might be interfering with the firing pin or spring.
regards,
Greg

I'm not sure if this is related, but many Kadet Kit owners have had difficulty with the Kadet Kit firing pin spring. For me and many others, the spring was not strong enough to set off the round.

I returned my Kadet Kit to CZ USA and it was promptly fixed for free. I have had no problems since.
