I was looking to stock up online for 9mm ammo for a CZ SP-01. It is for SD. I was looking at the normal ammo sites (ammoman, ammunition-to-go, AIM, natchez etc) and was unsure what to get. Im pretty sure I dont need +p ammo. The CZ forums are closed due to lack of interest. Please help. Thanks. :)

Try this company:

Reed's Ammunition & Research
Oklahoma CIty OK

Here's a sample of some of ROn's ammo
in 9MM LUger aka Parabellum.

all of these loads all with Hornady XTP JHP
------------------------------------------------------
115 gr. @ 1,208 FPS 373 ft lbs $ 21.21 per 50
124 gr. @ 1,150 FPS 364 ft lbs $ 21.82 per 50
147 gr. @ 1,090 FPS 388 ft lbs $ 21.55 per 50

Go to R.A.R's
Online Store,
Pistol Ammunition
and scroll down to find 9MM Luger

http://www.reedsammo.com/

I added the ft lbs calc. for my own info.

I like the 147 gr. XTP

I'm a .45 ACP guy, but my next semi-auto will be a
9MM probably a CZ 75 Compact. R.A.R. also9 offers
a good buy for .400 CorBon and I have ordered CUstom
loads, 250 minimum for a Custom order, and it's good
stuff to your spec.

WHat if any aftermarket magazines have you
found that WORK.

BlindJustice,

Kind of nice to see another source for SD ammo loaded with the XTP bullet. The 147 XTP at 1090 f.p.s. is pretty good stuff and actually produces more KE than the 115 and 124 loads. I prefer the 147 XTP also since it was designed with meeting the F.B.I.'s barrier penetration requirements in mind and expands to 1.5X caliber with pretty deep penetration as well. (14+ inches)

Fiocchi also produces loaded ammo using the XTP JHP using nickel plated brass, but not loaded quite as warm (only 985 f.p.s., it is subsonic ammunition afterall) as the ammo you mention above. Despite the fact that it is SD ammunition, it is pretty economically priced, too.

tailgunner45,

I have done business with all of the firms that you mention above except AIM and they are pretty good about getting your ammo to you without issues or problems. Depending on the type of ammo you want to get (you don't have to get what I or anyone else likes, get what you have the most confidence in) I would advise comparing prices between the sites and taking the best deal you can find, but you already know that.

I haven't found an ammo that the SP-01 can't shoot well. I normal use Georgia Arms 115 gr canned heat. But I also shoot Winchester White Box, Remington UMC, and Blazer Brass.

If you reload you can use Federal primers and go down to the 13lb main spring, but Winchester primers (what a majority of ammo uses) need the 15lb or high main spring (stock is 17lb IIRC).

Hey, guys the R.A.R 9MM stuff is standard pressure AFAIK.

Yeah, Gunslinger, I've got 500 .45 cal. 200 gr. Hornady XTP JHP &
500 unfired Starline brass I'm going to ship to R.A.R. to load up to
1,000 FPS in .45 ACP and .45 Auto RIm. for my .45s. XTP JHPs are accurate as well as controlled expansion. +1 ALso I bought the bullets last
September on sale for 17 cents each.... current price of SPeer GOld Dots
is about 45 cents( .451 200 gr. ) a bullets yikes.

R.A.R. .400 COrBon 155 gr. Hornady XTP JHP @ 1350 FPS may seem
spendy at 60+ cents a round but price it at Corbon and it's 45 cents more
a round and they don't offer XTPs.

BlindJustice,

Eh, not that expensive when you consider that the 20 round 'boutique' boxes from the various big name manufacturers are getting you for nearly, sometimes more, a buck a round. As long as you are happy and confident with what you are carrying, who cares? It is only money afterall! ;)
