CZ SxS Bobwhite G2 Thoughts?

It kind of reminds me of dad’s Browning BSS. It’s pretty nice. It fits me quite well. I haven’t shot it since, but have dry fired (snap caps) several hundred times. The action is now nice and slick and it seems the triggers are nicely broken in.

My advice?

You will abolutely be pleased with it and you really cannot go wrong. The CZ people are awesome and the price is very reasonable. Love it!!

 

Thanks. My grandpa had an Astra SXS that I just loved. It had the perfect feel, weight and swing to it. Nothing special/fancy, but it was fantastic. It will be interesting to see if this has a similar feel to the Astra.

 

It's the only properly set up SxS in the price range that is worth buying and as a field gun will do the needful for quite some time. CZ has been very effective in getting consistency and uniformity out of Huglu which are keys to reliability. Enjoy!

 

Years ago, I bought a Ringneck that really fit me well, but, started having issues with hammer-follow on the right barrel. Sent it in for warranty repair, but, they called me and wanted like $300 to repair it. At the time, I did a little searching on these forums and found that a lot of guys were having customer service with CZ..My understanding is that they may have gotten better.
Since then, I'll never buy another CZ, and with more experience with Turkish guns, won't be buying any more guns made in Turkey.

 

Looking at those myself Matt. Can see myself walking around Owens Valley pretty easily with one of these. Hope you get one.

 

I had a Ringneck in 28ga. Better gun than that kind of money should get you.

 

I ordered one in 20 ga. Never owned a SS. My father did. So I am ready for this. Thanks for the info. I am sure it will work well for me.

 

I bought the Bobwhite G2 in 20 ga about a month ago. I really like it. especially the 2 triggers. I hunt squirrels with it and like to use the full choke barrel first. i havent shot any birds with it yet but i think it will be fine. I started hunting with a SxS fox sterlingworth about 58 years ago. I still have the Fox but it is worn out. I havent shot it in years. That CZ bobwhite is a lot of gun for the money!!

Just a general statement on CZ (Huglu) shotguns. The fit, finish, and wood are great. My favorite Grouse gun is a Huglu OU in 20 ga. In 13+ years I have put at least 1000 rounds of field loads thru her with no problems, and scores of Grouse and Woodcocks bagged. You will have a fine gun.

The CZ Bobwhite G2 continues to impress. I shot about 100 rounds today:





This is one of the finest shotguns I have ever owned. It punches well above its weight for the price point and the black chrome finish is great for these kinds of weather conditions. Pretty enough to take to the field in style but not expensive or ornate enough to worry about normal wear and tear.

The flush chokes are a great choice as well lending to a lot of versatility. I feel this gun could even be pressed into emergency defensive action if needed, and it can be reloaded quite quickly with practice.

I forgot to mention the action is smoothing in nicely. The triggers on this piece aren’t exceptionally light at about 6.5 lbs but are very crisp and I think they’re perfectly usable for a field gun.

The CZ Bobwhite G2 12 gauge makes a dandy squirreling piece. I really like this gun!!

 

I have been looking at the Bobwhite for several months and I might have to pull the trigger on buying one. I have wanted a SxS 20 gauge for the last 55 years. My father used to borrow a 20 gauge SxS from a friend of his for me to use during hunting season. I loved the SxS but when I finally got my own 20 gauge it was a pump that my son has now.

This is an itch that is long overdue to scratch.

 

Do it! Truth be know I almost wish I’d of gotten the 20 gauge because these are made on gauge specific receivers, and the 20 gauge is notably lighter than the 12 gauge Bobwhite G2.

 

I just checked, and Buds has them in stock, and still at a pretty reasonable price...OK...it's a pretty good price in today's market, IMHO. I had an AYA/Sears 20 ga many years ago that I have kicked myself many a time for selling. I grew up hunting with my Grandfather who used either his Fox Sterlingworth 12 (30" full/full with Krupt steel barrels as he was quick to tell you), or his Parker 20 (No idea the grade, but I'm pretty sure it wasn't a Trogan), and have been in love with SXS doubles since.

I don't hunt anymore. I don't know of any place to shoot clay's. I should get one, a 20, anyway, just to have it.

 

Grabagun has them and since their retail location is 20 mins away I will probably order it and pick it up there.

 

"Pulled the trigger" and ordered one through Grabagun in 20 gauge. With local sales tax it ended up at around $665 but no shipping and pick it up at their retail location so I don't need an FFL (or the fee). Hope they get it over there next week so I can pick it up.
