CZ75 9mm vs 40 S&W

How does the 40 cal model compare to the 9mm? Does it have the same specs, just different caliber? Does anyone notice a difference in reliability? Feel? Are they pretty much the same, just a little more kick to the 40?
I have 75BD in 9mm would like to get one in 40 cal. How come they don't have a 40 cal with a decocker?

My experience with the 40cal CZ is that I owned a CZ75B 40cal SA and presently own the same thing in 9mm. I have also owned several of the CZ75B Mil Turks and a Combat in 9mm. The 40cal was 100% reliable and very accurate. It appeared to have a beefier slide however I made no measurements. I felt recoil of the 40 was very stout in the CZ however my other 40cal at the time was a Glock 23C so it might have been an unfair comparison. My present CZ75B SA 9mm is not as accurate nor has it been as reliable but it is not fully broken in. I do however prefer the CZ75 in 9mm as do I the BHP. These pistols were built around that cal and just handle better for me. The CZ75 in either cal is a winner. Enjoy!

Your Right. CZUB should offer a .40 Caliber decocker.

This will be adressed with the .40 MELT Compact. My .40 cal
75SA was 100% reliable, deadly accurate. More recoil
than my +P stoked CZ75s, but less recoil than my 10MM.

Most people pick the Forty, as they like the improved stopping power afforded by most of the ammo on the market. some
don't want or like to run +P+ 9mm.

CZ75BD

I was shooting Walmart cheap 115g FMJ 9mm out of my CZ75BD to break it in. It was as accurate as any other gun. I put some CorBon 115g hollow points in and the gun was super accurate. I felt no more recoil than with the non +P stuff. I think CorBon +P is rated at 1300fps. I got some Remington +P+ 115g hp from CDNN for $10/box of 50. It's rated +P+, but only 1250 fps. I'll see how accurate it is. Sure do like that Corbon, but it's too expensive to use for target practice very often.

Have any of you CZ-75 .40 owners ever put a .357 SIG barrel in your pistol? If so, how did it work? Other threads have said that Bar Sto sells a .357 SIG barrel for the CZ. I love my 75B in 9mm, but I might get the .40 if I could put the .357 SIG barrel in it without problems.

As a general rule I have found that the faster you push a 9mm bullet the more accurate it is. This IMO is why the 357sig has the rep of being such an accurate round. I have found that my new 75B SA 9mm seems to like the S&B 115gr FMJ round better than the Fiocchi and other hotter rounds the more it gets broken in. Go figure. :banghead:

The .357 CZIG is indeed a reality. My 75SA project didn't work out right.


In respect to the conversions. One has to do a bit of machining on the lug, enlarging the slide stop hole..like i had to with my 9mm barrel. Others report a glowing sucess with the .40 75B and the Bar-Sto. IRV had been selling them for about 2 years, prior
to my first inquiry.

I've long thought that the .357 SIG round coupled with the
Bar-Sto in the hands of a good shot could be a Cloverleaf
producing Cee-Zed. The 75SA has the accuracy to achieve this.
and the .357 SIG is superbly accurate as well.

Again, i'm enamored with the 10MM, so the .357 SIG doesn't
have the appeal that it did for me. Given that one not wanting
the power of the 10mm, nor a large framed pistol. The SIG
has a lot to offer. +P+ performance in across the counter
loads.

With both, excellent tactical penetration and superb stopping power..
I think the cartridge is growing in popularity by leaps and bounds.
Top-notch Instructors like John Farnam are quite happy with it.


As for a factory .357 SIG from CZUB. The opinion is that people
would eventually buy Bar-Stos..for improved accuracy and of course, the prestige factor. I tend to disagree...thinking that
a SIG chambered Cee-Zed would sell very well.

Should we finally see the .40 Compact (now rumored to
be a standard DA Compact. no decocker) we would need
to show support for the compact barrel from Bar-Sto.

Regarding the .40 having the same specs as the 9mm 75B.
The .40 calibers (75B and 75SA) have a full lug on the slide. Meaning more
steel up front..gives them a muzzle heavy feel. Also means
that standard CZ75 Holsters won't fit.

Witness or now 1911s!
