CZUSA a real letdown

Was the year of the gun mentioned during the ordering of this pin from CZ? Perhaps it was an oversight on everyones part. Also if the gun has a 5 year warranty and it is 6 years old they would certainly not think to send the older style pin as it is out of warranty and they are not responsible for the repairs (assumming the pin was sent at no charge).

Wow, you guys are giving the OP a hard time. This gun could have been out of warranty for 50 years and CZ should still have fixed it. It's a small $$$ part: it's called goodwill. They sent him an incorrect part and wouldn't fix it when it was brought to light. Others have said the OP is crazy for giving up CZ over a $10 part. The fact it's such a small part makes the OP even more correct. And let's face it: CZ isn't the only firearms manufacturer out there. And with some test-firing and shopping, I'm sure a suitable replacement can be found.

To the original poster, before you give up on them completely, try writing a rational letter. Explain the situation and lay out what they need to do to earn your business back. Do not use profane language or start making threats. Send it to customer service and CC the president of CZ USA. Letter writing is a lost art form; they can be superior to phone calls since you are able to take your time and form a clear, articulate thought.

Best of luck!

I paid for the firing pin, they did not send it free of charge. I also told them the year of the gun and they still sent the wrong one and did not mention anything about any changes. In fact the first person I spoke to when I discovered the difference told me there had never been any changes. Only after speaking to the gunsmith did the change information come out.

It comes down to the fact that they caused damage to my gun by sending an incorrect part and then refused to correct their error. It also comes down to the fact that they blithly told me to "file it down". I have a micrometer and mill, so I can do the job right. Joe homeowner does not. If you file off an extra .01", you disable the firing pin safety. This companies crappy customer service could potentially get someone hurt.

I have dealt with Customer Service at S&W, Kahr, and Para-Ordnance.

Each has been exemplary, each has fixed guns that I bought used when they could have avoided doing so.

Each has gone above and beyond what it could have taken to satisfy me--they actually strove to make me happy. And succeeded.

That approach has led me to make additional purchases from each company, and (more importantly) to sing their praises on many occasions both in person and on Internet boards such as this one.

In all seriousness, if the company is giving out bad advice, sending the wrong parts, and telling people to file down parts that can impact the safety of a firearm, it might be worth contacting the BATFE.

This would be akin to Ford sending me the wrong master cylinder and telling me how to modify it to work on my vehicle. Screwing it up results in no brakes and danger to me and those around me.

I just find it amazing they have no parts for the gun. Did you ever here S&W, Ruger, Glock say they don't have parts for an earlier model pistol?

Frankly I just don't see what all of the hype is about CZ. The CZ75B I had would begin to have extraction problems after firing 75 rounds.

here it comes

I don't think I need to duck and cover on this. I have always been of the belief you need to use what accomplishes your mission. But if they want to flame me, I have thick skin.:neener:

They should

I've dealt with CZ-USA, fortunately never for repair needs. Their communication/organizaiton skills aren't perfect. Mike can be a little gruff but is usually helpful. When I've ordered from them, it is clear that they don't always have their sh*t together. They are still way better than EAA.

They had firing pins for my 86 Cz75. Why they wouldn't have them for the other... don't know. THough I think 1999 falls into the first few years of the firing pin safety.

The thing with CZ-USA, as far as I can tell, is that they are a seperate entity from CZ-UB (who actually makes the firearms). The CZ factory in Czech Republic probably has any part you could possibly want. I think not stocking those is simply an oversight on the part of CZ-USA.

There does seem to have been a run of guns with extraction problems. CZs are my favorite pistols, but I'll admit they do seem turn out more lemons then Glock/HK/SIG, but this is reflected inthe price and CZ-USA has been decent about correcting problems. I've never had to use their warranty though.
