• Possible Downtime Alert

I am working to migrate THR from the current cluster to a new one. I would like to get this done before the weekend, but it's unclear what the timeframe will be, as testing is still ongoing. As I am writing this the new (rebuilt) host is doing a burn-in to ensure that everything will keep running under load.

When the migration happens users will see a Cloudflare message indicatating it cannot connect to the server. This is expected, and depending on how the migration goes this may last from 30 minutes to 3 hours - I won't know more until testing the various migration options is complete and I have finalized the plan.

More information is available in this thread.

As always, thanks so much for your patience.

DA/SA CCW Options

The lowly Bersa Thunder 380 or TPR9 Compact could fill the bill, but the ridicule would be unbearable!;)
CZ2075 Rami hasn't been mentioned, fits in with the aforementioned, but obviously on the used market only.
Walther P99 AS is out there new in a "final edition" offering.
I wish the DA/SA choices were expanding instead of contracting...but market demands- I get it.

I much prefer the operation and features of a hammer fired weapon. I’ve carried 3rd gen S&W pistols from the CS9 on up. Beretta compact. Sig 228.

But for me it’s all about size and weight and they do not make a hammer fired semi auto as light as a Shield Plus or Sig 365. And I gotta admit I shoot a striker weapon a bit better than a hammer fired one, but not enough to matter. I just feel a little better handling a hammer fired weapon over a striker. I like seeing the condition of the hammer before I holster. I like thumbing the hammer as I holster for added protection against ND’. I’ve carried striker guns for over 30 years, so I’m not a newbie to them.

No biggie, I don't always read all the posts either.
Yep indeed. :)
But yes as to some mentioned, I did a little weight check and attempted a comparative pic just for giggles. And pic perspectives are always subjective, unless on say the Handgun Hero website*
Empty, no mag- PCR 24.3 oz, Bersa (Thunder 9Ultra compact Pro, but same weight as TPR9Compact) 24.8 oz and Rami 23.5 oz.

As to what Zaitcev said, to me too the Rami feels like a dense little brick in the hand compared to the PCR because it's compactness, and the sexy palm swell the D has going for it.
The PCR is jus pure balance IMO- if there is a gun in the safe that I just blindly grabbed and it felt completely right, it would be the PCR (or PPQ). The Bersa splits the middle for me.
I will say that these compacts, especially the Rami, give me as many or more fits on the range as my super micro 380s. WTH 🙄

I have to get my hands on some of these to try the triggers and feel the weight. The more I shoot, the further I'm repulsed by the striker fired pistols. For work, I have no choice but to continue using/carrying Glocks and Sigs. But going forward, I'll be adding one or two of the ones suggested here.

Thanks everybody.
Be careful of the CZ's. I don't own any but have a friend that bought his first a few years ago. If he hasn't added any since the last time I spoke to him he is up to about 10 or 12 of them now. They are nice.

This is (1) of my (2) PCR's. Nothing bad to say about PCR's.

Love my HK P30SK. Mine is LEM but they also come as DA/SA with or without safety. Very easy to conceal especially with flush fit 10/12 round magazine and just a little longer with the 13/15 magazine as shown in mine below. Very sweet shooter even with the flush fit magazine.

I used to carry a DA/SA SIG 239. Very fine little pistol. Later switched to a S&W 3913, just because the 3913 fit me a little better. Years later, still have, and sometimes carry, the S&W.

Me too. :)

I ordered mine in the late 90's, using an armorer discount form I received in my first 3rd gen armorer class. I carried and ran that compact for a lot of years. I later had the opportunity to buy a late production 3913TSW when my agency transitioned away from TSW's, after S&W told their LE customers that the 3rd gen's were going to officially become 'obsolete' (meaning they'd decided to focus on their M&P's, which had been in production almost 10 years by that time). I also have a CS9, which is a bit handier to carry and shoot. Well, I also have some 3rd gen .40's and .45's, but the 3913 variants are my favorite.

Matter of fact, I just used my 3913 for a LEOSA qual. ;)

As if I needed another pistol to buy...
The 80X is nice, but it's significantly different from 92FS. To begin with, it takes the grip of 92X. You can approximate the grips of 80FS and 92FS with a plastic add-on. Also, the safety lever is on the frame and goes in the opposite direction: up to decock and safe.

Since we're on topic: the 80X is optics-ready, but the rear sight is on the plate.

I’d vote for the Sig P225-A1. Single stack joy.

I have a Sig P6 which is the German version of a P225 (not the A1). I dearly love my P6 and carried it a numbber of years. The "single stack joy" is exactly my only complaint about it. The CZ75 PCR that I acquired is an excellent replacement for it. It has the same manual of arms. Size is very close. But it carries 15 ÷ 1. Of course that makes it a little heavier but I haven't noticed it.

I daily carry an Sig p239 and also own a HK p30sk.

the only reason I carry the Sig over the HK is i like the holster I have for the Sig more. If the holsters were reversed I would carry the P30. Both are fantastic pistols.
I have a 365 but only carry it OWB and that’s rare. As in maybe twice this year. I appendix carry the other two.

may have to check out that CZ on page one.

I picked up a S&W 908s (3rd Gen single stack value line 3913) years ago. It was my EDC until I bought a Ruger LC9s Pro. After that, the 908s sat in the safe for years. My oldest son discovered it and fell in love with it. It's now his current EDC in an Roy's pancake holster under his suit coat.

A P239 is an excellent option if one can be found on the used market. Unfortunately they were discontinued. I bought a used 40 with the DAK trigger for <$300 some years ago.
