Do it. I have a Monson DW .357 and I always have people trying to trade me out of it.
They aren't making any more at Monson, or anywhere else. Monson's are particularly nice.

You can always get another M/P.

The gun looks to have seen some abuse. It is probably still mechanically sound, but personally I couldn't see my way clear to trading a gun that is worth around 450 or so for a dan wesson 44 that looked like that. On the other hand I can be picky, the extra barrel is nice, and dan wessons have been increasing in value the last several years. All that really matters is if you like it.

It hasn't been pampered, that is for sure, but if it mechanically sound, it should be fine. Until a couple of days ago I had never owned a Dan Wesson. I can't wait to pick it up. I am anxious to try it out.

If you like the deal, go for it. Like they say, they aren't making them any more, and your M&P is a dime a dozen right now. :)

They are a bit of a diamond in the rough, but they respond well to tender loving care. I used mine with an 8" heavy barrel for silhouette. It now wears a light 6" barrel. After reaming the chamber throats to .431", it shoots great. It is my most accurate .44 and one of my most accurate revos.

Single action trigger is now very good. Double action trigger is practically useless.

My Dan Wesson .44 is a joy to shoot. The mass helps relieve some of the recoil. Accuracy of course is outstanding.

That's a pretty sorry looking speciman. I wouldn't do it.

Sell your Smith and use the $$$$ to get something else.
