Well im hoping to pick up my first 1911 within the next month or so and have been doing alot of research. Im really interested in the TRP and have really considererd that as the one i wanted but the Dan Wesson Valor has caught my eye. They are both comparably priced around 1400 i think. Although i do believe that they are all backoreded several months. Anyways has anybody got either or these pistols and what do you think? Pics greatly appreciated as well. Thanks!

If you're looking to spend that kind of money, I think you should take a long look at Fusion Firearms.

Halo...I know you posted that because they have DW in stock, but Bud's Guns is considerably cheaper....at least for the CBOBs.

They don't have them in stock, and your link does, but for $100+, I'd personally wait.

Don't want to rag on ya...your source had a better selection, and actually had some in stock, so I ain't got much...I'm just a cheapskate.

I don't have the valor but I do own a pointman7. If the valor is anything like DW's other choices, you will be very pleased. Extremely well made and very accurate.

just because i'm confused...when you ask about the TRP, are you asking about the TRP Operator or the TRP Professional?

i'd rate the Operator comparable with the DM-7. the Professional comparable with the Valor

It really depends on what features you want. You have more options in the TRP but for quality in the $1300 price range the Valor is hard to beat. Not to say there is anything wrong with the TRP, quite the opposite. But to quote a very well respected smith in town, "The Valor is the same quality as NightHawk at half the price. Dan Wesson is the best value in the market". Incidentally, his shop sells NightHawk, Kimber, SA, Para, and Taurus. He is not a Dan Wesson dealer. I looked real hard at the various SA and Kimber models and decided to buy a Valor. It is an amazing pistol. You have to hold it and fire it to understand. It is not a custom, but it is as close as you can get in a factory pistol. They only made 200 in 2008 because of the amount of care and hand fitting, and it shows. If you buy the Valor you won't be disappointed.
