I'm looking to buy either a DDM4 V7 or a Troy carbine. They are both listed for $1399 but the DD has no sights so it will end up being a couple hundred more. It will be my one AR for range/defense but it is not my first.

Thoughts on the two guns? Is the DD worth $200 more?

I'm leaning DD but would really appreciate some knowledgable opinions.

Thanks, :)

In my opinion? Yes, it is worth having to pay for sights to get the Daniel Defense. Right now, even though things are starting to calm down, that is a great price. I would be very surprised to find one less than $1500 where I am at.

I would say get the DD and don't look back.

Both are great rifles but I would definitely pick the Daniel Defense if I could only have one.

A good set of fixed irons doesn't cost much at all - well under $100. If you are look at folding irons, you can do like me and grab a set of Troy Folding Battlesights for $150 on sale.

I'd also get the DDM4V7.

I don't have first hand experience with the Troy but bought a DDM4V3 lightweight three years ago and for me it's excellent in every way. It's really hard to beat Daniel Defense, I'd get one again.

I remember Dick's Sporting Goods selling those Troy carbines for under $800 on Black Friday weekend of last year. Some folks got a heck of a deal.

And the rest of the folks had their orders cancelled. Some of those folks has Dick's try to issue them store credit only instead of a refund for a fully paid for rifle!

Dick's is awful.

The DD carbines are excellent.

yep, Dick's really put some rude moves on the troy carbine buyers. I havent shopped at at dick's since and won't.
