I was at a gun show awhile back and came across what I thought was a good deal on a 45ACP. I asked the gent if it was "New" to which he responded "Yes". Told him I would take it and started to pull out the wallet and go to the Paperwork table where the man met me and set down the Box with the gun on top. I opened the box and looked inside and saw only one clip, to which I responded where is the other clip? I was surprised to hear being told that if I wanted another clip I would have to buy an extra. I replied that the gun came with 2 clips new and that I expected 2 clips. Then, I was told he would sell it to me 1/2 price. I said sure... since the clip cost you nothing I would be more than happy to give him 1/2 of nothing.

Needless to say I got up and walked off. I have seen this many years ago when I was a dealer, but did not realize it was still in practice. Are they any other things to look out for?

Dealers have been stealing second magazines about since makers have been including them. Nothing new, but I wish more folks would do as you did and refuse the deal or at least demand a price cut to make up for the missing magazine.

Maybe we could start a movement for makers to print a statement on the box saying: "THIS PISTOL WAS SHIPPED WITH TWO MAGAZINES; IF SOLD AS NEW, THE SECOND MAGAZINE SHOULD BE INCLUDED."

Had a dealer try to pull that nonsense with me when I bought my Beretta Storm. The first store I went to wanted FULL retail price of $675 and only had 1 mag with it. I walked right out and went to the next town over where I got it for $595 with BOTH mags included. I hate ripoffs!! :cuss:

Yup. I've had customers storm out because I was trying to short them the second magazine for their Kimber.

Thing is, Kimber only ships 'em with one.

Good Shop

I bought a USED Gold Cup a few months ago at a shop here in Mesa.

The Pistol Parlour. I asked for a second magazine (Not like I don't already have enough 1911 mags already). The owner handed me a new Wilson Combat mag (my fave), and also handed me box of UMC yellow box ball ammo.

Now, I was fully expecting to pay for the mag...but he smiled and said.."No charge, friend."

THAT is a good guy! When I open my shop in a year or so....that is how I will do business and treat my customers.

I should also mention, that all his used guns have marked on the tag, how many mags the gun comes with. If he gets the gun with 3 mags, you get 3 mags.

'Nuff said

Some of the Colt 45 Autos I have bought came with 1 and some with 2. The latest came with 2.
