I am interested in getting back into small bore rifle/pistol competition. When I did this back in ROTC/college, we used crappy stuff from the armory. We won a few events but probably could've done better with match-grade equipment (we did have shooting coats and slings with no ventilation or AC on the range...that was fun! ).

Anyway, I am interested in getting back into some local and regional events, but I'm having trouble weeding through companies that sell competition rifles, pistols, and equipment. I don't mind buying used gear so long as it still shoots match-grade. I remember that Anschutz and Schultz & Larson were considered some of the top manufacturers in this (at least in rifles, can't remember about the pistols).

I would appreciate any online vendor and equipment recommendations from THR's out there who shoot competitive small bore. Thanks in advance! :)

Try Pilkington or Larry's Guns. As far as I know, they're the two biggest dealers for precision competitive shooting gear.

Unfortunately, Neal Johnson went out of business earlier this year. :(

I don't shoot it, but my gunsmith out West did, and I remember him using these folks a lot for equipment:

He had tons of used Anschutz a few years ago, and probably still does. Prices are VERY good too.

The Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) has bolt-action, single-shot Kimbers .22s that were made for the Army.
    Supposed to shoot pretty well.

Check them, and other rifles out at www.odcmp.com.
