Without a doubt it's the EAA Witness Elite Match, if you've shot one you know. Very well finished, extremely accurate, excellent trigger. And they sell at the gun shows here for $399. Available in 9mm/.38 Super/.40/10mm/.45.

Ala Dan my friend, the best non-kept secret in all of guns is the CZ line. I don't remember if you have owned one or not at this moment, but if you haven't owned one you MUST get a 75 or an 85 series pistol NEXT!!!!!!! They are the best value in handguns that I am aware of at this time, including all others. The prices on CZ's are climbing, slowly but steadily, as people catch on. Within a few years they will command the same prices as Sigs and HK, every bit as good and a good deal better in some ways when compared to both brands.

I'm happy with my Colt Governments and Gold Cups. I haven't seen any reason for me to change.

CZ used to be the best kept secret.

CZ easily. THough, they are very quickly catching on, and the price is going up.

I'll give an honorable mention to the Witness line. They can be very good pistols (if you get lucky). Unfortunately EAA (the importer) seems to be doing everything in their power to turn off customers.

Loved my CZ SP-01, but happy I sold it to fund my SW1911. Both equally accurate, but the Smith just has something that makes me want to shoot it more. My shooting buddies agree, but none of us can put a finger on it.

Well, you asked for an opinion of quality and price, not necessarily inexpensive or cheap & well made.

So for the money, I'd say a Les Baer PII.

Semi-Custom, you can get it "your way"
Accurate
Reliable
well made
No MIM

It's not inexpensive, but they can be had for around $13-1400. And there's NOTHING else that needs to be done to one, no parts swapping, no tweaking.

springfield, springfield, springfield....
I dont have the link to the testing that the FBI went through to find they were the winner of the contest, but it was very thorough. (im sure you can find it in the archives or just searching the net). This speaks volumes to me. I do think smith-wesson is quality though, and you probably couldnt go wrong as they are VERY reputable.

If it were my money, id go springer....

If CZ's are such a secret, why are there so many posts on these forums about them? Sure they're a great gun for less than most of the competition, but not exactly a secret any more.
