Okay, I need some help here. I've located three guns, but only have the money for one. The constestants are:

1. A LNIB T/C Contender with 10 inch .45/.410 barrel. It is the gun I was actually saving for in the first place. $300.

2. A NIB Berretta NEOS .22LR. I've wanted one since I first saw them, and I am currently without a .22 pistol unless you count my RG. At $219 I can also put a red dot on top.

3. A Stevens Springfield 12g SXS. It needs a new butt plate, and it wouldn't hurt it to be stripped and refinished. It should be noted that to me these are selling points rather than deal breakers, I'm always up to another project. I have 8 Stevens 311's and this one would look nice amoung them. I can walk with it for $225.

I don't really NEED any of them, but since when has that meant anything. So which would you buy?

Based of what you've written, I could only guess, but I sense you're favoring the SXS.

How do I know? I dunno, but...

You've written longer about it, and since you mentioned you're a tinkerer, this gun could occupy you for sometime, giving you many hours of enjoyment.

Improves your collection, too :D

I have a weak spot for SxS shotguns. Fell in love with them when I saw my first John Wayne movie a hundred years ago. Get the shotgun!! :D

Get the TC you already have a few S&S already and you can get a Neo anytime .The TC you have a lot of options and different barrels you can get for it.:)

Well, I want to get either a Contender or an Encore in the near future but it sounds like you're leaning towards the Stevens. You'll probably get more immediate enjoyment repairing, stripping and finishing it.

Shotgun

NEOS will be around for a while as will the Contender. That shotgun won't wait for you and it's littermates may not come along at that price. Anyway, tinkering with them is almost more fun than shooting them.

Seeing as there have been recommendations for all of the guns on the list, do it the logical way, flip a coin. :) Round one, heads=T/C is out, tails=NEOS is out. Winner advances to round two against the SxS.

When I am faced with a situation like this, I always close my eye and clear my mind, then the first one that pops into my head is the one I get.

Seems like alot of you have guessed what's in my heart. I can forsee that Stevens coming home with me. Problem is, it's the only one of the three that I have no use for. I have 10 SG's now and I only shoot one of them. , But with cowboy action shooting getting more and more popular, these utility American doubles are getting rarer than hen's teeth. And I know if one of those guys get hold of it, he won't leave those beautiful 30 inch tubes alone.

I'm working for the next 7 days, so I've got a week to think about it, but I've already measured the closet to make sure there's room for another double. But I start a new job in 2 weeks with a sign on bonus. Maybe, just maybe...

The Wife to the rescue again (man I love this women). She pointed out that I could put all 3 on layaway. I will have to delay my gratification for awhile, but in a few months I will add 3 pieces to my collection and that ain't too bad.

What would I buy? Well I view semi-auto as almost a requirement for my weapons, and I want to snag a .22 pistol somewhere along the line for plinking, and I think the NEOS looks really cool from the NRA mag a few years back, so for me it would be a no brainer from those choices. (But if I had $300, I'd snag an AK or an @$$load of ammo and/or mags for my AR first)
