Deep concealment rig?

For reasons I won't go into (the situation is what it is), I find myself in need of a DEEP concealment setup. I need a small, thin firearm that can be COMPLETELY concealed in closely tailored dress slacks, button- down shirt and tie. Tell-tale clips on the belt or odd bulges in a pocket are not options, and a suitcoat or vest can't be assumed or relied on in all situations. The consequences of printing at the wrong moment could be disastrous.

Further, the gun must be capable of stopping a violent drunk or drug user (think METH) that will have likely already proven resistant to pepper spray, blunt objects, or pointed/ edged weapons. A .32 or .380 is not inspiring my confidence.

As much as I am aware of the downsides and limitations if carrying a derringer (and I've lectured others on this point here on THR), I am considering a Bond Arms .410 as a last line of defense. Mode of carry is undecided, but so far I'm leaning toward a belly band as the most viable option.

Anyone with experience with deep concealment? Experiences or alternative suggestions are most welcome.

A kahr pm40 or similar in a well made quality belly band that completely enfolds the pistol would probably be your best bet. It would be hard to get at for a fast draw, but there are tradeoffs for maximum concealment.

I carry a Walther PPS in .40 S&W in a Remora holster under my shirt and pants at 10:30 position. Shrug your shoulders up a little so the shirt hangs a bit loosely around the waist (which will happen naturally eventually any way) and it'll be completely invisible.

I have a Springfield XDS on order, and may replace the PPS with it when I get it broken in. They are the same size. Either the .40 or .45 should come as close to stopping a PCP'd maniac as anything that'll come out of a handgun.

Keltec P3AT. I know you mentioned that .380 didn't inspire confidence, but seven of them in rapid succession should get some attention. Mine is quite easy to control at under ten yard range.

I use the DiSantis pocket holster that clings to clothing. Stick it inside your beltline and it's no more obtrusive than a small cellphone.

Wear slacks that have slightly loose legs and use an ankle holster. There are several small .40's that could be concealed that way, or if you don't expect multiple attackers you might consider a snubbie in .357. No worries about a bulge in a pocket or around your waist that way.

I know you want something more substantial than a .380, but if I were you I'd back up the ankle rig with something like a P3AT in a SmartCarry.

Shot placement counts more than caliber. Think of that before you discount a Seecamp 32.

A Ruger LC9 9mm is really flat and super easy to conceal. I used to drop one in the front pocket of my jeans with no problems before my fiance decided she liked it and took it from me. I imagine an LC9 in a belly band or "thunderware" under dress clothes would be completely invisible.

Buddy of mine had a similar need. He used one of these to carry a G19 for quite some time. Drawstroke was pretty simple - off hand rips cover garment open (buttons will pop), strong hand completes draw.

I feel like I would have to get 2 or 3 of those for everyday carry. I imagine they start to smell if you dont wash them often

As I was reading through your post, I was thinking "belly band". I have one that has some little shoulder straps that keep it from sliding down (my wife calls it my bra...) and I have easily "deep" concealed a .40 S&W sigma. Mine also has a spot under the opposite arm for a spare mag if that is important to you.

As for wearing dress clothing with it, I have heard it mentioned (but have yet to try), that a good trick is to undo one of the buttons where you would need to reach into the shirt and sew a false button onto the shirt to make it look right and optionally have a small patch of velcro put in place to hold the shirt closed in that spot. This gives easier access if a need should arise.

Ditto on the LC9 (9mm). Carried one tonight Mexican style with zero issues, though I know many many men here do not approve of that.

Also check out the Taurus PT709. 7/8" thick (9mm). My favorite "deep" carry sidearm. When I can wear a full jacket, it's the Sig or the full size 1911 tucked in a slightly higher angled IWB holster.

Those derringers aren't small or light

I'm picturing a pf9 in a belly band. I don't often suggest a brand-new gun, but the P938 from Sig might be something to look at as well.
