Gonna break out the 8mm mauser this year with some handloaded Hornady 150grain spire points running at 3000 fps. Groups well enough out to 300 yards through the peep sight to drop ole daddy buck. For general meat store fodder im going to use my .308 may even take my son this year if he can sit still enough... still working on the keep quiet rule in the woods... He sure can blast some limb rats with a single shot .410 though......

Winchester M70 Featherweight 270. If you prefer a 300 then use it, more than you need though.

If I'm lucky enough to go with my dad's friend...

Either my 700 SPS .30-06 or my Winchester 94 30-30. Depends on if we are going into woods or not.

I'll be using the same rifle I've used for the past 14 years. 336 Marlin in .30-30 with 3-9x40 scope.

Let me see will it be the Savage 110 30-06, Winchester 70 308, Winchester 1895 30-40, Marlin 336 30-30 or the Marlin Guide Gun 45/70 and the winner wil probably be Savage 30-06 for stand and field work and the Marlin Guide Gun for working the brush. I also have a Savage 110 243 but I don't like that caliber for hunting deer as likely as not I won't be getting that perfect broad side shot so I like a heavier bullet that will get into the lung area from any angle tht I shot the deer from. I know a lot of people use the 243 but that's okay for them, I just don't trust it for my style of deer hunting.

I rotate them but this is the year for a new one. Ruger One rsi stainless. That's the Mannlicher stock with 18 inch barrel. In 7mm-08 and I will be using the excellent 140 gr managed recoil loads not so much for recoil, but because they perform better on whitetail size game in the dense woods close range.

    Certainly DPMS AP4LR-308.
    Maybe also Remington 742 .30-06
And if I can get three M1 Garand in .30-06
The wife will use her Lee- Enfield in .303

I'd kinda like to blood 3 or 4 new weapons this year, starting with my new bows, the T/C Icon in .243 and the DPMS LR-260L. But last year I managed to harvest only 1 deer total, so you never know what kind of luck you'll have.

Edit: Almost forgot - I also want to hunt with the Savage 10ML, and maybe one of my Hawkens, but there's only 9 days in ML season, so we'll see.

Either a sporterized Mauser 98s in .308,30.06(x2),.280 Rem,7x57(x2),.257 Roberts or Howa 1500 in 30.06,Churchill Highlander in 7mm Rem mag or Steven's Model 200 in .223 Rem(least likely but possible). I may even use a Russian Capture 98k or Chinese SKS or U.S.G.I. .30cal carbine(also not very likely). The Colombian Mauser in .308 will likely be the first choice.

I'm thinkin' mostly a .50 caliber Hawken Hunter Carbine. I might break out the old Remington 722 in .257 Roberts, though. I got it out last season, bought 50 rounds of brass for it and loaded it up, had some left over, took it to the range and it was still dead on, been sitting since I got my Remington M7 in .308 a dozen years ago. I also like to hunt with my Contender pistol in .30-30 and I have this new Hoyt bow. The challenge is to figure out what to hunt with. I also gave thought to maybe using my .357 Rossi 92 a few times. I don't actually hunt with it, much, have killed deer with it in the past. But, I've finally figured out the care and feeding of this Hawken, though, and kinda wanna take something with it, hog, deer, no matter.
