Denied pre 41F form 4

So myself and several friends filed for last minute NFA items before the rule change on July 13. Everything we read said that your form 4 just had to be post marked before July 13 to fall under the old rules of not requiring fingerprints/photographs on a Trust.

One friend just got a check from the ATF in the mail, so he called them and they denied his form 4 (post marked July 11) because according to him they told him he had submitted before the rule change but they didn't "process it" until after. Does that make any sense?

Is his congressman 'gun friendly'??

We have one that is fairly gun friendly but he won't bother, I just wanted to know if anyone else has heard of this since I have one I'm waiting on that I sent out July 8th but they didn't cash the check until the 18th. And a friend of mine has two that he sent out right around July 12.

We bought them in April but it took two months to get the ATF to approve the form 3 transfer between the online dealer and our local shop. Gotta love it.

I'm remembering the pickup truck load of forms that SilencerShop sent in just before the deadline. How were those 'processed' that yours wasn't?

Beats me. If it had happened to me I would have asked a lot more questions but he didn't keep asking, it was going to be his first one.

I can imagine the S-Storm that would cause if they denied all those. Bet a of those customers are not from a liberal haven like Austin and their congressperson will get earfulls .

No, it doesn't. ATF specifically said forms postmarked 13th and after would have to comply.

This the second time I'm hearing this. I believe ATF is wrong in that it had to be post marked by the 13th,but I also believe there are going to be THOUSANDS denied from silence shop. They sat on thousands of forms waiting to mail them all at once. If I bought something in June from them and shipped the form in July I would be pissed at them not ATF .
Look at this. She says it has to be pending by the deadline.

They told you wrong.
The ATF web site specifically states that any form 1 or form 4 "postmarked July 13 or later", will be processed under the new rules.

So if you put it in the mail on July 11th, and you are sure it got postmarked on that date, you are to be processed under the old rules, and they should kmow that.

Yeah Ted has helped me out before but since this is a friend of mine and I don't have all the facts its his deal. Now if MINE gets kicked back (postmarked July 8th, cashed on July 19th) then I will have a lot to say about it.

I just wanted to see if anyone has heard of this.

Just watched the video, I'm not sure where she's getting her information but everything points to it needing to be postmarked before July 13th, not to achieve a pending status.

So I called the ATF directly just to confirm and they confirmed that anything postmarked July 12th or earlier will be processed under the old rules. My hunch for my buddy is that maybe the dealer sent his in later than they told him.

Ole Ted Clutter definitely fixed up my SBR had my stamp in my inbox 2hrs after I emailed him that the correction had been made.
