Denver AWB - What exactly is illegal/legal?

Re the Denver legislation that is the subject of this discussion, I don't live anywhere near to Colorado, I wonder as to the following.

Does one here see another example of what some refer to as The California of....., readers can fill in the blank as they see fit.

I knew it wouldn't take too long for someone to scapegoat California for Colorado's own problems.

Be that as it may, how often have you heard of California, where I lived once upon a time, being described as "the role model" for all manner of legislative foolishness? BTW, the term California is not something I originated.

Careful

trbon8r,
Per adamz's post:
(5) Firearms which have been redesigned from, renamed, renumbered or patterned after one (1) of the listed firearms in subdivisions (1), (2), (3) or those described
in subdivision (4) regardless of the company of production or distribution or the country of origin or any firearm which has been manufactured or sold by another
company under a licensing agreement to manufacture or sell the identical or nearly identical firearms as those listed in subdivisions (1), (2), (3) or those described in
subdivision (4) regardless of the company of production or distribution or the country of origin.

This means almost all black rifles. And we always blame Californians for our woes. Traffic, high home prices, urban sprawl and the unceasing flow of more loonies into Boulder. Just to be clear though, Denver's AWB was passed at the same time as and for similar reasons as Cali's. Coincidence?

Throughout the 1990s Colorado had had a MAJOR influx of Californians moving here.

In that time the political climate here has changed significantly and is more like California than what Colorado used to be like.

You can dismiss it as scapegoating all you want, but the fact is that large numbers of Californians have moved here and brought their leftist beliefs and voting patterns with them and have changed the political landscape here.

I may be stubborn, thick headed or just plain old and feerble minded but I have absolutely no respect whatever for political types who knowingly and deliberately play word games, trying to falsify things and ignore proper technical definitions in an attempt to achieve two bit political ends, pandering to anti gun hype and hysteria such as is so clearly demonstrated with this Denver balony about banning assault weapons.

I might be old fashioned, as well as any or all of the above mentioned, but assault weapons are properly defined as follows. Selective fire weapons, usually of rifle configuration, chambered for intermediadte power cartridges. Anything other than the foregoing is simply the output of political whores, no disrespect for/of or to legitimate whores is intended, and this applies at ANY level of government one cares to view.

I guess California created the likes of nuts like Ward Churchill and the liberal establishment that protected him for so long at the University of Colorado?

You've had your own liberal contingent in Colorado for years that has a history of drawing in every dirtbag, hippie, and stoner with a pair of skis. They didn't all come from California. You have plenty of your own home grown nuts to go along with the imported squirrels.

Regarding any Californian's that have moved to Colorado, I doubt you have much to fear from them. They are the ones that got out in large part because they didn't like the political climate in California. Then there are reasons like cost of living, overcrowding, etc. Did you ever stop to think why people are now leaving California? It's because too many people from states such as Colorado have moved there and overcrowded the damn place and made it too expensive to live. Now things are moving in the other direction and you are getting exactly what Colorado and other states have given California. Sucks doesn't it?

you're from maryland. stop trying to be an expert on the colorado/california problem, you have no clue.

Yeah what do I know, I only lived in California for 35 of my 36 years, and before you ask yes I've been to Colorado more than once.

trbon8r,
I think our derision of Californians is more tongue in cheek than anything. We always try to point out the "non-natives". Before Californians it was Texans with all their oil money. All the transplants to Colorado that I know came here for the lifestyle more than political reasons. I think those who are looking for a more conservative state would move to Idaho, Utah, Oregon or Montana. The political stratification (Urban vs Rural) is clearly from the massive influx of people. I'm not sure how many people Colorado has sent to California over the decades but we sure got them all back in about 10 years.
It is funny you should mention CU-Boulder though. Just a few years ago there was pressure to reduce the amount of Californian students because they were taking up so much room the locals couldn't get in and CU is the only University system in the state allowed to ban CCW's.
So next time you're out this way drop me a line & we'll go to Boulder, drink some fine beer and laugh at all the freaks, some who look like they are alien to the planet.

I'll definitely take you up on that offer! I always enjoy a couple cold ones. Regarding the freaks, that will just remind me of a day at Venice Beach......lol

Have a good one.

I'd avoid Aurora just east of downtown ... its one of the areas you're most likely to NEED an AR.

Zundfolge--I resent that statement--I live in Aurora. You can usually get by just fine with a handgun:eek::)
