Is the Desantis Mini Scabbard worth it for the 45 bucks or are you better off putting the money towards a high end brand.

I was looking at is as a cheap around the farm work holster

I have a few DeSantis holsters (Mini Scabbard, Speed Scabbard, E-Gat, a couple of Sof-Tuck holsters, and a Nemesis pocket holster), and I think they offer a pretty decent value for the money.

I really like DeSantis holsters. Good holster for that price range. I don't have a Mini Scabbard, but I have 3 Speed Scabbards for 3 different pistols. The oldest one is about 10 years old, and they've all held up pretty well.

You're more than welcome!

With a good thick gun belt the DeSantis holsters hold the gun close into my body and are easy and comfortable to conceal carry.

For farm work, you might think of some sort of active retention. I could see a pistol separating from that holster pretty easily. But then, I might be thinking of something different that you are thinking as farm work.

Yea a thumb snap is nice for work, I figured the mini scabbard with adjustable retention screw might hold it in though. I don't tend farm animals here. Just do firewood, clean up brush, grass, weedwack mostly landscaping type work.

Depending on the gun, something as simple as a kydex holster from Fobus or a Blackhawk serpa would do fine for light duty, assuming the manufacturer makes it for your gun.

I ordered up a like new Blackhawk CQC Askins style leather OWB. Made in Italy, everything about it looked better than the mini scabbard overall. It has the double reinforced mouth, and since its askins style the loops are further apart, it should bring the butt closer to the body and be more stable on the belt.

Disregard info on that page, link is just for picture reference

I'm hoping the fit will be good. It is not exactly made for the P30SK however the seller assured me that it fits perfect, like a glove, and will have a hard time finding a better OWB leather holster for my pistol......and he had 100% feedback.

I have to try it for the 35 bucks.

My Sof-Tuck holsters are for my Kahr CM9, SIG P238, and my two J frames, a Model 649 and a Model 638. All of them fit perfectly and are so comfortable to wear.

The Blackhawk holster I ordered is a total disappointment. The pistol fits it WAY to tight, mostly because it's not the model it was designed for I'm sure, but I knew the models were different when I bought it. It also does NOT conceal at all. I can't even run it under a flannel!

Note: these blackhawk Askins holsters have rubber block type pad sewn into the inside of the holster and it runs along the top of the slide for friction/retention. I did not like it at all, it makes for extreme difficulty holstering and drawing. If I had the p2000sk which the holster was designed for I'm sure it would be better.
