We have an upcoming shoot at Gibson's in Mesquite on Saturday, July 17, 2004, at 10AM. Rifles and pistols are the flavor of the day.

I was at Gibson's last time & met a few of you guys. Will try to make it again. Regards, Splat.

Oh, now THAT cuts to the quick!

/Martyr Suit-ON/
I'll have you know that I introduced two complete noobs to riflery that day...one of them a woman. Does sacrificing one's own pleasure and amusement for the sake of RKBA count for nothing, these days? ;)
/Martyr Suit -OFF/

I did not invite them on this go-'round, however, because I want to be sure to:
1. Show up on time
2. Get a decent round count
3. Did I mention getting a bunch of rounds downrange?

Unless I'm run over by a truck or some similar happenstance, I will be there at 10AM or earlier.

I am learning, however, and will bring the "Canton Cart" my wife & I bought at Canton to haull my gear around it. I'm thinking of the following:

Hand-Cannons:
Taurus 651 Total Ti .357 mag (Think Ti Bodyguard)
S&W 686
SA Ultra-Compact 9mm
Ruger MkI
(A small-bore extravaganza!)

Long Guns:
Rossi 92 .44mag lever gun
K31 Schmidt-Rubin
Remmie Nylon 66

LOL...

Ok, I'll bring the following:
  • Ruger 22/45
  • Glock 34
  • Kimber TLE
  • AR15 (one that needs sighting in really badly)
  • Rem700 LTR
They all need a good cleaning, though, after the shooting bonanza we had at my family reunion on the 4th. I think this will be a new record low of the number of guns brought to a shoot. If anyone has any requests, speak up and I'll throw them in.

Brute:

If I recall correctly, you had/have a S&W M625 in .45ACP?

No, don't bring it.

I have a Webley MkVI (with the ground cylander making it suitable for .45ACP & S&W moon clips).

I just wondered if you knew anywhere locally where I could buy powder-puff (low-pressure) .45ACP rounds with lead bullets (no jackets)? All the knowledgeable Webley-shooters caution against "high" pressure .45ACP rounds and jacketed bullets.

I have not set up yet for reloading...and my classy British Lady lies unused, unloved. I must rectify this situation.

I am thinking of waiting to build my reloadng bench and just buying one of THESE.

BTW, the Webley Mk VI was originally chambered in .455 Webley which chunked a 265gr hunk of lead at a leisurely 650 fps. Nothing too dramatic, but I hear it got the job done.

I do have a 625. I don't know where to buy ammo like you're describing. I would think that someone would have to load them for you, as I don't know about the commercial viability of a .45 round that might not reliably cycle an auto.

I know someone that uses that stand (or similar) in their apartment. It does the job, but obviously doesn't offer the space that a full sized bench does.

I'll be there. Ill bring my AK and about 650 rounds, Python and about 400 rounds. Whatever else strikes me between now and then I guess :D

TechBrute, EghtySx, & myself made it out there.

It was HOT! Any further shoots in the summer, I recommend earlier than 10AM...like opening time.

TechBrute brought out a nice AR & a Remmy 700 bolt in .308, as well as a Glock 34.

EghtySx brought a sweet SAR1 with the prettiest furniture I ever did see on a AK as well as a suh-weet Clot Python with a double-suh-weet blued finish.

I shot my Yugo M48 w/ scout scope, K31, S&W686 and "Brutus." Brutus is a Taurus 651 small-frame .357 made from titanium. I was informed that the muzzle blast to the sides when firing 125gr 3.57 Wincleans was considerable. POI with .357 is so low that I will likely carry .38spl+P 158gr LSWCHP. Also, it did not like repeated loads of .357. I think there is a heat dissipation/galling issue with titanium magnum revolvers.

"Alduro better show up after all that complaining about no Saturday shoots."

Techbrute....believe it or not, a training schedule forced me to work weird hours. Sorry I couldn't make it. DAG NABBIT!!!
