Did you ever win something from the NRA?

My wife always rolls her eyes when one of those NRA sweepstakes envelopes comes around. I spend way too much time optimizing my list of firearms I will receive if I win one of the prizes.

I'm wondering if any THRers ever won anything from one of those sweepstakes?

Nothing from the sweepstakes but a friend of mine has won a couple guns in raffles at NRA banquets over the years.

Despite the lack of common sense in Marketing, they (the NRA) are the only game in town.

They don't provide LOTTO tickets or Bingo cards. Most likely, there won't be many individuals who take home Door Prize in raffles.

salty

Personally, I wish they'd save the money from the silly giveaways (printing and mailing to millions costs even more millions) and use that money for better causes. Either that or hire Ed McMahon as a spokesman.... but he passed away.

gun raffle in Texas

Gun per week raffle in Tolar, Texas; buy one ticket, entered in every weeks' drawing. 52 guns to be raffled off for tolar isd scholarship fu nd. 1000 tickets at $50 per ticket[sorry, all sold out]. Texas is great:D:D

I hope they're bright enough to do some analysis to see that there is a benefit above the cost.

I suspect the guns are donated, as they tend to be slightly oddball configs that are not hot sellers. You don't see Glock 19s, M&P Shields, etc. in the list.

That's not technically the NRA, that's the FNRA (Friends of NRA). I've won several guns and prizes at those over the years. Our local chapter will buy around $30k (IIRC) worth of prizes in the hopes of raising $30-50k (profit), so the ratio of prizes to guests is pretty high.

I win every time I enter, and even when I don't--the prize is more stuff in the mail.

I'm not complaining. Our RKBA would quite likely have been killed of decades ago but for the NRA and similar organizations.

I won a Benelli Nova shotgun at a Friends of NRA banquet a fews years ago.

If y'all have never been to the banquet it's a fun experience and money well spent.

I never win any of that stuff. But I love the fact the NRA fights to preserve our basic freedom of our god given right to self defense. Ill support that till the day I die.

Yeah, I don't have any high hopes, but I like sitting there picking out my "21 Gun Salute" or whatever it is that month and sending it off. I always think about how ridiculous it would be to go down to the local FFL and have just a pile of boxes full of guns for me.

Ever notice the envelopes in those are the only ones the NRA sends that aren't Business Reply, postage paid?

I have entered. Never won any thing that I can recall. I stopped bothering. It would seem that money talks.

I never try to win any prizes. When I donate I don't ask for anything in return other than to keep up the good fight.

One time after sending in a contribution ( $200 IIRC ) they sent me a bowie knife with a plaque to hand it on the wall. Wasn't expecting it but it is ok.
