A buddy of mine will soon be the owner of a beast of a revolver, the X-frame in .460 S&W. He was wanting a .500 S&W but was justifiably influenced by the flexibility of the .460S&W to handle the .454 Casull and .45Colt.

He's already ordered some of Hornady's SST fodder (200gr @ 2200 FPS, or something along those lines), but would like to reload the brass once spent.

I've searched all my catalogs for the .460S&W dies to no avail. I've browsed on-line and hadn't any better luck, though found plenty die offerings for the .500S&W.

Is there something I don't know, such as an existing die for the 45-70 gov't or something that would double for the .460S&W ?

If dies exist, hopefully they're offered by Lee as my press is a Lee four-hole turret w/ indexing.

Thanks in advance!!

You should contact Lee. If they don't already make them for the general public, they'll make them for you. I wanted a Lee collet die set for 357 Herrett. I sent them $52 or thereabouts and I had them in my hot little hands a few weeks later.

.45 colt or .454 Casull carbide dies should work fine. All three use the same diameter bullet. You will just have to back the die body out of the top of the press to accomodate the longer length of the .460, but that is a cinch.
