For bang away target shooting with an a Model 27 N frame, what is the difference between 130 full metal jacket and 158 round nose ammo?

The 38spl and 158 grain should go hand in hand, a perfect match.

The venerable model 27, originally the Registered Magnum, that true first magnum N-frame, cries out for the real stuff.

On the other hand mine seems to shoot 148gr. wadcutters close to the same point of aim.

For just "banging away" I would buy the ammo that's the cheapest.

Do you mean .357 Magnum ammo?

If so, it is fun, but I would not want to shoot 100 rounds of it in 30 minutes.

I'm a creature of habit and like shooting the full house magnum H110/296 loads. And when I shoot them I usually put at least 200 rounds in a session through my pieces. Yes, they are very stout and send me to the ibuprofen when I get home to kill the wrist pains. But a magnum is a magnum and deserves it's potential in my opinion, and it hurts so good! But shoot what ever you enjoy shooting, it's your dime.
