Dillon customer service

Needed a small part for my Dillon 550. Wasn’t having any luck with their website so I sent an email to their customer service asking for help. 18 minutes later I got the reply “Parts are on the way!” Great job Dillon!

 

This is good to hear. I have heard that they were not as good as they once were.

 

Call them, every time I have called got a real person who spoke English and knew what they were talking about.

 

Dillon CS and their products are the best, IMO. I have used a 550 for years and it has produced excellent results with no issues. I suspect the next generation, at least, will see the same.

 

don't the calls go to their scottssale shop. when i was visiting their showroom. there was a guy answering some phone service questions. i mentioned some minor thing with my 550 that may have something to do with the wire/rod that pushes out the primer bar on the downstroke.he goes behind the counter and just hands me a new one.

 

Years ago I bought a pre-owned but NIB 450, predecessor to the 550. The powder dispenser slide was defective. I got all new bushings and a new slide N/C, shipped free. Probably $75 worth of parts.

Along with Leupold, Dillon is the best company I’ve ever dealt with on anything

Yep, their CS is top notch. I purchased a used 650 15+ years ago; CHEAP that the previous owner was having issues with, he purchased used as well. Come to find out the index ring under the platen was broken, not allowing it to rotate the plate fully, quick call to Dillon with a list of parts needed...week later the press was up and running as it should.

On Aug 2022 I emailed them:
I have two Dillon 550s. One is quite old and the needed part does not appear in the manual. Photos attached.
The powder measure tube has developed a number of cracks (photos attached) but unlike the newer powder measures, there are no screws to hold it in place. It appears to be 'glued' in place.
Can I repair this powder measure?
Can you provide parts and instructions?
Their reply:
Hi Epags,
Hold the empty measure firmly by the metal body and whack the middle of the hopper tube against the edge of your bench. The shock of the impact should knock the tube out of the base, as it is glued in. If any remains glued in then soak that end in acetone for 10 to 15 minutes. This will soften it so it is easily scraped out.
Apply two large drops of epoxy or Loctite Black Max inside the base on opposite sides and press the new tube into it and twist it halfway around and back. Then put a wrap of tape to hold it in place overnight.

And @ no cost I received a new powder measure tube. There has not been any deterioration in their service.
