Do you have a colored gun?

I try to avoid being identifiable as someone who carries and therefore am less likely to be falsely accused of brandishing or threatening anyone. The video recommends using a crazy colored gun to refute false accusations. If the witness didn't see a pink gun, their testimony would be called into question. So don't drive a trump truck with FJB and NRA stickers, gun logos, and AR silhouettes or bone collector and punisher skull decals, especially if you have a habit of rolling coal on dudes in prius. Or if you do, be sure your piece is pink.

For those who didn't watch the video: the advice is to have a gun so distinctive that were someone to falsely accuse you of threatening them with it, they would not likely be able to testify what color it was. A purple gun with a stainless slide wouldn't work because your hands would cover the purple part and it would look like any gun to a witness. Dark purple would also just look black in low light, as would OD, FDE, or grey.

Mind you, I'm not entertaining the idea of bright pink or yellow slides, only explaining the intent they were recommended.

False accusations of threatening could be a serious concern, more so for some than others. Some life a quiet life and keep a low profile, but some people don't. If they carry, they have to consider what could happen if they offend someone who decides to falsely accuse them of threatening them with a gun. Cop finds them with a gun, who do they believe? If they don't find a gun, they must have managed to ditch it. It costs the accuser nothing.

I have a Kimber Micro Bel Air, a couple AR-15's I Duracoated Mauser Red and a kind of olive drab, and a blue 22BR bolt prairie dog gun.

Plus the usual blued, blackened, Nickel, and stainless finishes.

Am building an aluminum frame 1911 that I plan to Duracoat the frame. Color undecided as of yet.

Sorry, no pics at 2 AM.

.223 , good shooting deer killing gun the granddaughters and grandsons used and not one complaint. Put the stock on a .243 and they never said a word . That's how we moved up. Now we don't use the pink just the cool Cabela's camo 243.
The oldest two now use .308 and .270

Black, gray, fde and odg is all i have. Well, my slide on my g17 is gold tin and g40 is a copper color (don't remember the exact color). When i get something set up for cerakoteing, then I'll do many other colors. Maybe do a "skittles" and capture that rainbow

If one were striving for a solution to any problem that might occur, I suppose there’s just a hint of credibility to that idea.

One can also wear oneself out chasing solutions for every single foreseeable issue.

I’m pretty sure that’s how people wind up carrying a high cap gun. And three extra mags. And a BUG. And, a bug to the BUG. And a fixed blade.. you get the idea.

Conversely, you are carrying a gun that looks like a toy. And, would likely be more visible if your cover garment rode up.

I was going to answer "no", but then I got to thinking...

I have a couple of Wranglers, and although they are in more "standard" colorings (silver, black) they are still colored Cerakote just the same as the cobalt blue, bronze or other more "rainbow-y" colorings.

So I actually have to answer "yes" in all honesty. Possible, unconventional and long-shot defenses in a court of law had nothing to do with it.

I actually stopped watching their videos some time ago. They began to strike me as raising up concerns above their normal concern level if that makes sense, no doubt to stimulate views. I have enough real concerns in my life to worry about than to burn time on such things.

But in the spirit of this thread which asks a question, yes, I have cheap two-tone SCCY CPX-2, light blue grip, with stainless slide. I even carried it a few times, but didn't care for the snap when firing it, nor the general low quality of it. It works, just not in love with it.

I also have a a Glock 19.5 that I thought was factory color in FDE, but was actually cerakoted by the distributor. It took me a long time to figure out where to remove parts of the cerakote from inside the frame to get the trigger into any sort of smooth pull. I now like it a lot, and the trigger is probably the best glock trigger I have, but it took work to get there and turned me off to cerakote (at least if misapplied to functional areas).

I recently reconfigured a sig custom works FCU in Titanium Nitride with a new XMACRO grip and slide both in factory Coyote brown, because I like it.
