Do you have a most favorite scope?

There are different "best scopes" for different levels of cost.

My personal point of limited returns is the $600 Leupold VX-R 3-9x40 Illuminated. It has a 30mm tube so it's very bright. The "target" turrets are easily adjustable, but flat to the scope body. The magnification could be higher, but for practical purposes I can identify and hit a golfball at 100 yards, and a prairie dog at 300, so not sure what more magnification would do for me other than show my hearbeat or whatever while shooting.

The illuminated TMR reticle is etched on the first focal plane:

I love etched reticles and 30mm tubes, so if I had to spend less money ($300) it would be an SWFA SS 10x42 Milrad with this reticle:

I like my Nikon prostaff 3-9x50 with BDC. I have some other more expensive scopes, but I'm pretty fond of this one because of its performance and price.

Leupold Gold ring 4x fixed.

Simple is better sometimes.

3-9x varaible 40mm scopes are probably the most versatile of hunting scopes and I have several 'vintage' ones by Weaver and Tasco.

I got to use an ACOG once and wow.. that's a heck of a set up but the price point makes my head spin.

Leupold VX3 4.5 x 16 x 40 with AO....medium price scope without spending a lot like on Swaroski etc. and not a cheapo....why would one want a scope like a Zeiss Conquest on a double rifle where you are only gonna shoot a few yards....good luck finding a charging buffalo looking into that.

My favorite is my Nikon Monarch 4-16x42 with the BDC. Good scope, considering what I paid, and I love the BDC system Nikon uses. Served me quite well, thus far.

1-4x variable, with a "true 1x" on the bottom end. Fiber optic and tritium illuminated reticle. Very durable. Basically takes the role of a red dot/holographic site for up close speed while on 1x while being just a throw of the lever away from upping the magnification for more precision/distance shots with better target identification

I need to own that... I need to own that right now.

It's probably a drilling but you do understand that not all double rifles are elephant stompers, correct???

I'm partial to the Leupold Vari-X III (or current incarnation) in 2.5-8x, with a heavy duplex reticle installed. I also love my Bushnell Elite 4200 in 4-16x AO.

It's probably a German deer rifle. Might even be a 30-o6.

I really like the new Leupold VX3s.

I have a 3.5 x 10 x 40 that I am tickled with. I think I may be buying a 4.5 x 14 x 40 AO VX3 shortly. That would give me 3 nice Leupold scopes.
