Do you have a surprise gun?

I have had a few. My Stag AR was a huge disappointment. I learned I don't care for an AR built in commando fashion.

My glock 17 was a huge letdown because of how terribly bad it fit my hand.

My rem 700 .270win is deadly to 600 yards, possibly further but I found meat once at 600.

Mt wife's marlin mag fed 22 rifle is light, accurate, and very pleasant.

My 2 ruger gp100s were great guns with the worst barrels ever made.

Taurus pt99 in any variant is a wonderful gun that would out shoot my 92fs all day long.

I've had plenty suprises...but the biggest one is how much I love my delta elite. It's accurate, beautiful, and just odd enough for me to enjoy.

Just recently, my father-in-law and I were in a local gun store looking for a slug gun for him. We saw an old Sears 12-gauge with a fully rifled barrel, custom stock and sight, etc. for $139. It wasn't quite what FIL was after, but when I commented on what a nice-looking gun it was, he looked at me and said, "Would you like to own it?" He had me fill out the paperwork, then paid for it himself and told me Merry Christmas.

Picture attached. Besides being a really handsome gun, I used it last Friday and was happy with the results. :)

Honestly, one of my favorites is my 1952 Remington 514 single shot .22 rifle. My first gun, and still deadly accurate. Never fails to deliver smiles. My oldest brother handed it down to me for Christmas in '66 when I was 10, so I guess that's the "surprise" factor of it.

Why Yes I have a surprise guns. I'll be surprised if they ever come into my FFL. On order for almost a year.

The closest thing I have to a surprise gun is my Taurus PT 111 G2 I bought this past summer. I had researched it before I bought as I was reluctant to buy it due to Tauruses online reputation. After reading & watching online reviews I decided to gamble on it. It was only $200 after all. The little gun is easy to carry, pleasant to shoot & reliable.

It was also a bit of a surprise when my Taurus 25/7 .45 went full auto on my wife once for no apparent reason. Hasn't happened since, but I never use anything less than an iron grip when firing that gun now.

Mine was a Turkish Mauser I picked up about 18-20 years ago ... Buddy of mine owned a pawn shop; I was browsing through his wholesale rags and someone had them for $39.95 when you bought 5 or more. Ad said they were rough, some had cracked stocks, missing sights ect ... I asked him if I bought them and took my pick, he could sell them & we'd split the profit and he agreed.

They all had good bores and were decent but had been handled rough with chips & gouges and 2 had matching numbers of which I took one of those ... Not sure if it was the same place but a week or so later there were NOS stocks for $20 and cases of 1200 rounds of Turkish 8mm for $69.95 ... so I bought a stock & two cases of ammo

The rifle, despite its looks was very smooth & accurate which was one surprise ... the other surprise was the day after shooting 20 rounds, I could barely move my arm :uhoh: It was about 10 days before I wanted to shoot again :banghead:
