Last time I counted, I have at least six. Lots of fun. The most bang for the buck. Especially with ammo prices these days.

My rifle is a CZ 452 .22 magnum, I also have access to my fathers CZ452.22lr that I bought for him.

My pistol is a .22 conversion kit for my Beretta 92, I also have access to the S&W 617 I bought for my father.

One financially sound day I will buy a Ruger Single Six convertible to replace the one I sold to finance my dads 617. *sigh*.

I've been mainly shooting rimfires for the last 18 months due to a shoulder injury, if I hadn't had them I would have had to give up shooting.

Why not just get a BB gun?

Own some air guns, also . . . like I said, "nothing turns an adult back into a kid like a .22" . . . an air gun fosters the same effect . . .

All will shoot "holes in holes," recognizing the range limitations, taking the time to find the right pellet, and practicing . . . all are very quiet (one, for all intents and purposes, is virtually silent, the others range from nearly negligible sound at the muzzle to 91 decibels at the muzzle) & I "own" my yard. Plus, I can't always go the range and trigger-time, sight acquisition, breathing technique, & trigger mechanics are the same as with a centerfire . . . practice, practice, practice doesn't necessarily make perfect, but such DOES improve your technique.

I have a couple Ruger 10/22s, and Browning Buckmark. I'll still have them when everything else is banned.

I cannot imagine a gun safe without a...no, several, .22's of various types.

I do not have a large collection by any standard. However, there are seven .22's in my safe holding positions of honor. Some came from my dad, one from my grandfather, one from my father-in-law, the rest I bought. You just got to have .22's in the collection! They're FUN!

Mark.

Wish I had more, but I'm pleased with mine

The first gun I bought (aside from toys) is a Ruger 22/45, which has been fired less than it deserves (time constraints), but has beither been cleaned not complained in the time I've owned it. One day, I promise, I'll learn to take it down and clean it, but it's certainly the most intimidating gun to disassemble, of the ones I own, yet the least intimidating to actually shoot.

And the first long-gun I bought was also a .22 -- a Savage bolt action, synthetic & stainless. I have since acquired a few other long guns, but for my purposes (pure plinking) none of the others are necessarily more satisfying, at least on a cost-per-ounce-of-fun basis. The .22 does not offer any shoulder-WHOMP, but then, that's not a bad thing ;)

I own, shoot and adore several 22LR handguns and rifles. I am 'into' 45Colt aka long colt and 22LR calibers the most now more than some other past and presently owned firearms in OTHER calibers.

Last Sunday @ Deer Creek, I shot my Ruger Super Single Six (I did not use the 22WMR cylinder.) and my S&W Model 317 - Kit Gun.

Sincerely,

Catherine
PS: I have other posts about my favorite firearms on this board too.

My first .22 was a Mossberg 702 "Plinkster" and recently I purchased a ruger 10/22 and installed a Volquartsen trigger and extended magazine release.

I don't consider any gun collection complete unless there is a 22 included.
With the increase in ammo prices I suspect the "lowly 22" will make a surprizing resurgence in popularity.
Personally, I looooove shooting both 22 handguns and rifles. They don't beat this old man to death, therefore I can shoot longer, for less money.

1954 WZ48 Polish Trainer in .22LR - I love this rifle, it weighs as much as my Swiss K31 and is a tad bit longer, it was a great rifle to help me get used to these milsurplus rifles and it's still very fun to shoot.

I voted yes.

I currently only own one .22: a rifle.
(The only rimfire amongst those centerfire revolvers & carbines.)

Will eventually buy a handgun to go with it.

But for now, that rifle is enough in .22.

It was good enough for Annie Oakley, too.

Made me start this thread.

Yes, a Walter P22, but I seem to not shoot it very often since I bought a few other guns.

First rifle was a Chipmunk. Then I got my Rem 511-X and first pistol was a Smith Model 17 K22 masterpiece with 8" barrel and target trigger and hammer and microclick adjustable rear sight. Before it was stolen it have taken the lives of many ground squirrels in CA. That was a sweet shooting pistol. When I find another one I am going to buy it.

If I make a wishlist it is populated by more rimfires than centerfires. I love centerfires but you can just do so much with a rimfire. I still do not have a 17HRM 17M2 or a 22Mag.

best practice gun there is. for both discipline marksmanship technique. mastering a 22 leads to better handeling and accuracy. i learned on a 22 and both my boys learned on a 22
