Do you wait long just to set up a target?

This can be for just two people, but does not happen very often, at MSSA in Lakeland, near Memphis.
Some of the older retired gents seem totally unaware of their surroundings, only themselves and never look around.

A few weeks ago I was able to get the guys' attention (just two shooters), and take the target downrange.
But after I was finished in about 20-30 min., they concentrated so much on peering into their scopes that I left my target on the stand and drove away.

My wife is a Type 1 diabetic and sticks to a fairly firm meal schedule.

umm.....did you try walking over to them and asking if they wouldnt mind if you went down range?

Usually I don't, because some of the guys are concentrating so much on their gear and don't want to interrupt.
Most of my shooting is two miles from there at the river, so it doesn't really matter.

If they are just peering down their scopes for awhile, I'll just call an "all clear." Seems to work for me. I do that at private and public.

If I need a cold range to set or retrieve a target, I'll just walk over and ask for a break in the action. Most people are pretty aware, and will notice if you're standing around, some guys you have to give 'em a little poke.
I don't like people that call the range clear every 5 minutes, cause they shot their 3 shots, don't have a spotting scope, and need to walk downrange.
But...some guys will put up about 100 tiny bullseyes, and they won't need to check targets for hours.
Happy medium.

Yeah, then there's the "GOING HOT!" guys that shout that before every mag.

Dude...we've BEEN hot for the past ten minutes....where were you?

It's a very nice private club with really good, polite people, so I prefer parking my car at the 100-yard ranges only when the guys (younger than retire. age) are there.
Being ten minutes from home, there are enough options, and will take you guys' advice into account.
