Working on some .410 1/2 oz loads for .410 with 444 marlin brass. Alliant website uses their 410 powder for their load data and I see on the burnrate chart that Longshot is right above it, which I have on hand. So I am curious as to whether anyone else has tried this for .410 powder? I know burnrate charts are only a suggestion of the characteristics of powder under controlled circumstances, never hurts to ask though!

Longshot is used some in 28 gauge loads, and heavy 20 gauge loads. The burn rate is too fast, and the powder is too bulky for the .410. H110/W296 is the go-to powder for the .410.

I would stick with a powder designed for 410 shells. I use H110 for all my 410 loads from light 2 1/2" loads to 3" hunting and SD loads.
