Seems like they're coming out with a lot of stuff. Perhaps most if not all of it is under the 10 round limit, "for now", they can always make larger magazines. But it appears other than AR's, which most of us have, they aren't concerned about semi auto pistols.
Is it possible that we just get a watered down ban on 30 round mags? Glocks all basically will take a 10 rounder, so maybe that is going to be what they shoot, "pardon the pun" for. Grandfathered in the old AR's new ones with 10 round mags, and no semi autos with over 10 rounds.
I hope none of this gets passed, but something moderate "as they will term it", may get through.
Then we have to fight it in court.

S&W M&P45 has a 10-round limit. The Ruger might just have a skinnier .45 than the Glock or XD. A lot of the other stuff is aimed at the CCW crowd.

I may be wrong but I would imagine a company like Ruger takes their time when making the decision on what to make and release. I would guess these guns have been in the works for quite a while. I would be suprised if these were introduced as a result of the last few weeks

I doubt they know any more than we do at the moment. They do probably have access to Feinstein's list however which I don't believe will be available until the bill is submitted to the Senate (and I believe there is a House version). That bill may well be re-written by Biden and company prior to being submitted to include things that the "committee" wants in the bill(s).

Didn't Bill Ruger say that nobody needs more than 10 rounds? They have always been loosely aligned with the so called 'high cap' way of thinking.

Well some of their newer guns have threaded barrels and muzzle brakes/flash hiders. Plus the M&P 45 only has ten rounds, and I do believe the standard SR frame may be slimmer than an M&P so....

Alot of features they introduced are being talked about in bans. Plus they didn't just design them a couple weeks ago.

Ruger seems to be a company that's intent on being as politically correct as a gun company can be. Just look at the mini-14 it is pretty much an ar-15 in its capability, but it has a nice old fashioned wood stock and doesn't look nearly as evil as the Bushmaster equivalent. Though, they haven't seem to have set a 10 round limit for their magazines in the past it does seem like their magazines tend to accept less than their glock/s&w/colt etc. counterparts.

edit: That being said I do own and have shot mutiple ruger firearms and believe they really have some of the best guns for the price. Also, had very good customer service the one time I did have an issue. I like the company I just think they are a bit too PR concerned.

I suspect that the Mini-14 and Mini-30 will be included on the ban list.

Bill Ruger was a businessman. He is deceased now. I don't care what Bill thought back in the early to mid 90's and it certainly shouldn't matter today. Ruger has a pretty amazing assortment of guns that they build and it all started with a sheet metal Mark I 22.

Between the Ruger rimfires (10/22. Mark series, Single Six) and popular carry guns (LCP, LCR), I would be willing to bet Ruger has introduced more people to the gun community than any other company. I tend to think their good outweighs the bad. They have built good guns that are affordable for a long time. IMHO Ruger has had a very positive impact in our culture

This.

Umm...the Mini-14 was made to look like a smaller version of the M14....hence MINI-14

It has nothing to do with politics, and everything to do with the fact that Bill Ruger wanted a smaller M14

I think their leaning towards having lots of 10 shot or less hand guns has more to do with size constraints and philosophy of use and less to do with any potential ban that may never even happen.

The product development on new firearms is months, if not years. There is no way that Ruger did this in response to anything that has been in the news the last month or two.

"Didn't Bill Ruger say that nobody needs more than 10 rounds?"

He never said, "Nobody."

He also never said that nobody needs a pistol smaller than a canned ham. ;)

Rugers claim to fame is to build reliable, affordable firearms for the average person. Apparently they believe the average person does not need high capacity firearms.

Bill Ruger is long gone. The company has released guns that have capacities of greater than 10. They built the Gunsite Scout, AR-15 pattern guns, and a whole bunch of very good self-defense oriented handguns. I see nothing to make me believe they would support magazine capacity limits.

I guess that's why the factory 25 round 10/22 magazine, 20 & 30 round Mini-14 magazines, 20 round Mini-30 magazine, 30 round PMAG (labeled as SR-556 Magazine), 15 round SR-40 magazine, 17 round SR9 magazine, and 15 round blue & stainless P Series 9mm magazines are still available for purchase at their own e-commerce site, http://shopruger.com.

I guess that's why there are multiple options for the SR-556, Mini-14, and Mini-30 with 20+ round mags from the factory.

I guess we should ignore all the centerfire rifles listed above, many with politically incorrect features like collapsible stocks, pistol grips, mags over 10 rounds, and flash hiders.

Perhaps we should also ignore that in the new products list are an SR-22 rifle with flash hider and collapsible stock, the 10/22 takedown now with factory threaded bbl & flash hider, the updated 22/45 lite that retains the threaded bbl, and an SR-22 pistol now with factory threaded bbl.

Well, I am now old enough to realize that EVERYONE knows something I don't.

It would appear there is some universal truth floating around that has evaded me for decades so why should Ruger be any different?

:banghead:

Ruger is probably the most suppressor-friendly major company out there...they've been working hard to offer a full line of rifles with flash hiders, which can be easily replaced with suppressors, and pistols with threaded barrels. I love my 10/22 Lite with a Tac-Sol can! And Ugaar did a good job of dispelling the no-high-caps myth.

Also keep in mind that the world has changed since Bill Ruger "testified" before Congress...if a major firearms executive did the same thing in today's Internet world, that person would no longer have a company in about 48 hours.

The product development cycle can run into years...it was two years from the first discussions of the Gunsite Scout Rifle to its introduction.

Some people get some really weird ideas about things. :scrutiny:

Exactly! Anybody who believes otherwise has not been paying attention.

It looks like they made them like the lc9 --especially for California. Maybe that is their market? You need all those safety features to make the roster of approved handguns for CA. There is a huge market to be tapped due to the restrictive nature of all these features.

No body here said that Ruger doesn't make Hi-Cap Firearms or tacticool items. The question asked in the opening post was if their new products being released had to do with the sudden turn of events in our country. Needless to say marketing, tooling for new products and distribution takes much longer than this latest media induced frenzy. The key word here is marketing. Again....Ruger makes exceptional firearms in all forms and styles. But their main marketing is directed towards the average hunter/sportsman/shooter with the emphases on affordability. While this philosophy is different than some manufacturers who's main product lines consists of military style weapons with 30 round mags standard, it has been a wise and profitable direction. The 10/22 was out for many years before Ruger themselves offered a magazine capable of more than 10 rounds. The majority of Ruger firearms new and old come from the factory with a capacity of 10 or less. This obviously shows who their market targets are. Those that can't figure this out apparently aren't payin' attention, eh?

Just to add, no need for the link ugaarguy, I was just there last week ordering a coupla estra mags for my 77/44 and 77/357. While I was there I did notice the other options too.
