Does stainless steel barrel resist throat erosion better than carbon steel?

    Just wondering if one steel is better against throat erosion than another type?

    I am not an expert so here is what I have read.

    Throat erosion is a product of the heat carrying away the carbon in the barrel steel. Stainless steel has very little carbon in it so it is not as prone to erode. It should last longer. In theory.

    As Forrest Gump says, "thats all I have to say about that".
