Well there's that Irish song about "My little Armalite"

Metallica- Stone Cold Crazy

"...Running down the street,
Shooting people that I meet;
Fully loaded tommy gun..."

Alice in Chains - Rooster

Johnny Cash -Delia's gone

Not exactly the most responsible examples of firearms use, but oh well.

"Guns and Roses" had a song with lyrics about guns but I can't understand that whining. Hank Williams Jr. had alot of them " I'd spit Beechnut in his eye and shoot him with my .45":D

Skid Row -- 18 and life...the video had a gun in it. I haven't seen it in a long time, but from what I remember it was a revolver.
"Gangsta" rap...

"Devil's Right Hand" by Steve Earle

My very first pistol was a cap and ball Colt
Shoot as fast as lightnin' but it loads a mite slow
Loads a mite slow and soon I found out
It can get you into trouble but it can't get you out
So then I went and bought myself a Colt 45
Called a peacemaker but I never knew why
Never knew why, I didn't understand
Cause Mama said the pistol is the devil's right hand

Yes, Metallica did it better. Same with "Whiskey in the jar" You would think though I woulda seen the reference in the first post though.

Lot's of good references in that one.

There's a current rock one out too that I like, can't for the life of me remember the band. Song is "Never again". Features the use of a firearm in permanently solving a domestic abuse problem.

Before anyone says it, that leftist :cuss: Sheryl Crow is talking about spf 45 sunscreen, so don't get your kinky little hopes up.

"Rocky Racoon" by the Beatles

A close second "Pretty Pistol" by Marilyn Manson even tho' I don't think it's really about a gun.

And for what it's worth, there are those who think Metallica slaughtered "Stone Cold Crazy" and "Whisky in the Jar" but most of us are old farts.
"Never Again" is Nickleback, kinda fun to watch the video on MTV and try to guess all the gun references they block out.
Actually, the coolest gun song of all time was "Blood Christ" by a band called Blind Drunk. I think I have the last remaining copy. They had this really cool, good looking 19 year old bassist/vocalist who was going to change the world. I wonder whatever happened to him. Probably grew up to be a fat, lazy ED nurse.:D

Queen: Boemian Rhapsody. "put a gun against his head, pulled the trigger now he's dead"

Sister of Mercy: Lucretia My Reflection "dumdum bullets and shoot to kill".

Soundgarden: Gun. "Shoot, shoot til their eyes open, shoot shoot til their eyes are closed.

The Cult: Aphrodesiac Jacket. "aphrodesiac jacket, Napolean machine gun"

Moby - South Side "...weapons in hands as we go for a ride...well it's love, and darkness, and my sidearm..."

Scissorfight - Granite State Destroyer "Weed, guns and axes, we don't pay our taxes, 'cuz we don't exist - on any government list..."

Eminem - countless...

Sublime - Santeria "Daddy's got a new .45, and I won't think twice to stick that barrel straight down Sancho's throat..."

Warren Zevon has a picture on the back of some of his albums of a plate with food and a big revolver, 44 mag I think, sitting on top of it. Its called eat your dinner.

got a 38 special up on the shelf
If I start acting stupid I'll shoot myself

from I'll sleep when I'm dead

Roland the Headless Thompson Gunner by Warren Zevon

The Gringo Pistolero by Allan Wayne Damron, though I do prefer Andy's accordian-based rendition.:)

Either I be blind or I can't be believing ain't no one done yet mentioned Lynryd Skynyrd's "Saturday Night Special."

Def Leppard: "Billy's Got a Gun," and "Don't Shoot Shotgun."

The Robert Cray Band - Smoking Gun
Now they've knocked me down and taken it - that still hot smokin' gun...
Lyle Lovett - L.A. County
And they kissed each other
And they turned around
And they saw me standing in the aisle
Well I did not say much
I just stood there watching
As that .45 told them goodbye
Bob Dylan - Knockin' on Heaven's Door
Mama, put my guns in the ground
I can't shoot them anymore.
That long black cloud is comin' down
I feel like I'm knockin' on heaven's door.
I'm sure I can think of a lot more, but my lunch break is about over...

Ice Cube, It Was A Good Day:

Even saw the lights of the Goodyear Blimp
And it read, "Ice Cube's a pimp"
Drunk as hell but no throwin up
Half way home and my pager still blowin up
Today I didn't even have to use my A.K.
I gotta say it was a good day

:D

I'm not the biggest C&W fan, but I'll have to admit to turning up the volume when I hear:

Bubba shot the jukebox (Mark Chestnut)

We were hogged down at Marges Bar
Telling stories if we had one
Someone fired the old Jukebox up
the song it sure was a sad one
A tear drop rolled down Bubba's nose
From the pain the song was inflicting
All at once he jumped to his feet
just like somone kicked him

Chorus:
Bubba shot the jukebox last night
said it played a sad song
that made him cry
went to his truck and got a forty-five
Bubba shot the jukebox last night

Bubba ain't never been acused
of being mentaly stable
so we did not draw an easy breath
till he laid that Colt on the table

he hung his head till the cops showed up
he tried to march out of Marges
told him don't play dumb with us boy
you know damn well what the charge is

Chorus

Well the sheriff arrived
with his bathrobe on
the confrontation was a tense one
he shook his head and said
'M'Bubba boy" you was always a dis one
now reckless discharge of a gun
thats what the officers are claimin'
Bubba hollered loud as hell
I hit only where I was aiming

Bubba shot the jukebox last night
Said it played a sad song made him cry
went to his truck and got a forty-five
well he shot the jukebox
stopped it with one shot
bubba shot the jukebox last night

Well he could not tell right from wrong
through the tear drops in his eyes
beyond a shadow of a doubt
it was a justifiable homicide

Bubba shot the jukebox
stopped it with one shot
Bubba shot the Jukebox a last night

Bruce Cockburn - "If I had a rocket launcher":D

Skid Row's "18 and life" - "...had a courtship with the gun. BANG BANG! Shoot 'em up! The party never ends..." They also had one called "Big Guns" but I doub't they were refering to firearms.

U2 - "Exit" "...Hand in the pocket. Finger on the steel. The pistol weighed heavy. In his heart he could feel..."

Police - "Invisible Sun " ...lookin' down the barrel of an Armalite"

Here ya' go,

My Little Armalite
(To the air of "It's Home, Boys, Home")

And it's down in the Bogside, that's where I long to be,
Lying in the dark with a Provo company,
A comrade on me left and another on me right
And a clip of ammunition for my little Armalite.

I was stopped by a soldier, said he, You are a swine,
He beat me with his baton and he kicked me in the groin,
I bowed and I scraped, sure me manners were polite
But all the time I'm thinking of me little Armalite.

And it's down in Crossmaglen, sure that's where I long to be,
Lying in the dark with a Provo company,
A comrade on me left and another on me right
And a clip of ammunition for my little Armalite.

Sure a brave RUC man came up into our street
Six hundred British soldiers were gathered round his feet
Come out, ye cowardly Fenians, said he, come out and fight.
But he cried, I'm only joking, when he heard the Armalite.

Sure it's down in Kilwilkie, that's where I long to be,
Lying in the dark with a Provo company,
A comrade on me left and another on me right
And a clip of ammunition for my little Armalite.

Sure, the army came to visit me, 'twas in the early hours,
With Saladins and Saracens and Ferret armoured cars
They thought they had me cornered, but I gave them all a fright
With the armour piercing bullets of my little Armalite.

And it's down in the Falls Road, that's where I long to be,
Lying in the dark with a Provo company,
A comrade on me left and another on me right
And a clip of ammunition for my little Armalite.

When Tuzo came to Belfast, he said, The battle's won,
Said General Ford, We're winning sir, we have them on the run.
But corporals and privates on patrol at night,
Said, Send for reinforcements, it's the bloody Armalite.

And it's up in Ballymurphy, that's where I long to be,
Lying in the dark with a Provo company,
A comrade on me left and another on me right
And a clip of ammunition for my little Armalite.

And now for something completely different...

"Trigger Happy" - Wierd Al Yankovic.

"The Thirty Point Buck" - Da Yoopers ("..AK-57 heat seeking shotgun.")

"Skeet Surfin" - Nick Rivers (Val Kilmer)

Okay, so I'm a little wierd....

Gene Pitney's The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance

When Liberty Valance rode to town the womenfolk would hide, they'd hide
When Liberty Valance walked around the men would step aside
'cause the point of a gun was the only law that Liberty understood
When it came to shootin' straight and fast---he was mighty good.

From out of the East a stranger came, a law book in his hand, a man
The kind of a man the West would need to tame a troubled land
'cause the point of a gun was the only law that Liberty understood
When it came to shootin' straight and fast---he was mighty good.

Many a man would face his gun and many a man would fall
The man who shot Liberty Valance, he shot Liberty Valance
He was the bravest of them all.

The love of a girl can make a man stay on when he should go, stay on
Just tryin' to build a peaceful life where love is free to grow
But the point of a gun was the only law that Liberty understood
When the final showdown came at last, a law book was no good.

Alone and afraid she prayed that he'd return that fateful night, aww that night
When nothin' she said could keep her man from goin' out to fight
From the moment a girl gets to be full-grown the very first thing she learns
When two men go out to face each other only one retur-r-r-ns

Everyone heard two shots ring out, a shot made Liberty fall
The man who shot Liberty Valance, he shot Liberty Valance
He was the bravest of them all.

The man who shot Liberty Valance, he shot Liberty Valance
He was the bravest of them all.

This was the first record I ever bought. (45 RPM)
