It'd be interesting to see what temps are required to ignite the powder.. But it was definitely hot enough to melt the magazine. I'm not sure what type of plastic was used in it (Assuming it wasn't a steel one) so here's some numbers just to throw them out there:

PVC pipe is a much softer polymer and that takes about 83degrees C (181F) to melt... Polypropelene is about 160C (320F). Several types have a melting point of 260C (500F). Steel has a melting point of about 1370C, or 2500F.
