Apparently not far enough outside Emperor Daley's
Soon-to-be-FORMER Chicago Alderman Dorothy "The Hat" Tillman lost a runoff election yesterday.

She is infamous for waving a gun around during a Council meeting. Now that she will no longer be a "peace officer" per Chicago regulations allowing aldermen to CCW if they wish, does this mean that she will turn in her guns?

Voters give more aldermen the boot

At least four aldermen need to start cleaning out their desks, but at least four others looked like they will hold on to their City Council seats.

Aldermen Dorothy Tillman (3rd), Shirley Coleman (16th), Madeline Haithcock (2nd) and Ted Matlak (32nd) all lost their aldermanic runoff contests.

Including the three ousted in February, it's the most aldermanic defeats in any election year since 1991, when voters also gave seven incumbents their walking papers.

Despite the election board's numbers, Matlak refused to concede defeat to challenger Scott Waguespack.

Aldermen Bernie Stone (50th), Rey Colon (35th), Howard Brookins Jr. (21st) and Lona Lane (18th) all won.

"I feel pretty good," Stone said shortly after challenger Naisy Dolar conceded defeat in the Far North Side ward. "I just had a shot of booze. . . . As we say in the vernacular, 'l'chaim.' "

That's Hebrew for "to life."

Also celebrating was baker Toni Foulkes, who beat Felicia H. Simmons-Stovall for the open seat in the South Side 15th Ward.

Tillman, Coleman and Haithcock were all targets of the unions, who poured money and foot soldiers into the aldermanic contests. Foulkes was a union-backed candidate. But the labor organizations were split on Matlak, and some stayed neutral in Stone's race against challenger Naisy Dolar.

On the West Side, Ald. Michael Chandler trailed social worker Sharon Denise Dixon in the 24th Ward, but neither candidate was declaring victory or conceding defeat early Wednesday.

Two other incumbents did declare victory, but their rivals refused to throw in the towel.

Ald. Vi Daley (43rd) was leading rival Michele Smith by more than 500 votes with just one precinct out. And Ald. Joe Moore (49th) had a lead of 138 votes over banking executive Don Gordon.

Gordon pledged to challenge the outcome, accusing Moore allies of "shenanigans" at the polls.

Moore said Gordon "should take it like a man and accept the fact that he came up a little short."

Quick....send over the CAGE Unit cops.....check her FOID card, etc.

CAGE=Chikago Anti Gun Enforcement

Now she'll have to find real work. The thing is, just what is a former Chicago city councilman qualified to do? Pardon me, council-person.

Are the Sopranos hiring?

It would be interesting to see if she loses her concealed carry permit.

Ah, if only it was lil Richie instead. At least The Hat was good for comic relief once in a while.
